What will I be doing?

As Guest Service Agent, you will provide reception services for Guests to contribute to an overall exceptional experience from check-in through check-out and complete audits, as required. A Receptionist contributes to the first impressions of our Guests and, therefore, must perform the following tasks to the highest standards:
  • Achieve positive outcomes from Guest queries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure an efficient reception experience for Guests, including check in/out, and complete audit procedures, as required
  • Ensure that the Front Office Manager is kept fully aware of any relevant feedback from guests and, or, other departments
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service at all times
  • Attend appropriate training courses, when required, and assist with the Night Team's training and development efforts
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of hotel room categories, room rates, packages, promotions and other general product knowledge necessary to perform daily duties
  • Maximize room occupancy and use up-selling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities
  • Use the correct procedures regarding the acceptance of foreign currencies, credit cards and cash in accordance with the hotel credit policy
  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all heath and safety legislation
  • Act in accordance with policies and procedures when working with front of house equipment and property management systems
  • Follow company brand standards
  • Assist other departments, as necessary

Mine Engineer at Petra Diamonds - Koffiefontein, South Africa

Reporting directly to the Mine Manager, the Mine Engineer will be responsible for managing the Engineering Department and will take legal responsibility for:  men and machinery; optimum machine and underground equipment performance; engineering availability as well as achieving production targets.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Legal appointee for the Mine
  • Develop, implement and monitor adherence to engineering standards and legislative requirements, taking corrective action where necessary
  • Allocate resources to project teams in consultation with relevant Section Heads
  • Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering processes and systems
  • Drive and implement action plans to achieve the Mine strategy and business plans
  • Set and prepare financial budget for the section
  • Keep abreast of market trends and new technology
  • Ensure the effective management and control of human resources for optimal utilization

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements:
  • B Degree or National Higher Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works)
  • Operational experience in an underground mine with TMM and RBE
  • Experience on shafts, winders and ore processing plants
  • Operational experience in a leadership role
  • Valid drivers’ license (Code EB/08)
  • Sound computer skills

Technical Services Manager at Petra Diamonds - Koffiefontein, South Africa

The applicant will be responsible for co-ordinating short and long term planning for the operation, implementing and managing mining, technical systems and providing leadership to the planning, survey and geotechnical engineering functions and reports to the Mine Manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to all Company systems, practises and procedures
  • Responsible for the design / layout of new mining blocks
  • Compile business plan
  • Ensure legal compliance standards of survey, geotechnical and planning functions
  • Perform feasibility studies

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements:
  • B Tech or Degree in Mining Engineering / Survey / Geology / Rock Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years mining experience
  • Valid drivers’ license (EB/08)
  • Basic software knowledge of Microstation and Mine 2-4D
  • Conversant with Microsoft Office packages

Other Skills/Competencies:
  • Proven track record of supervising and managing people
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Have knowledge and skill in supporting a knowledge management plan for a unit
  • Know and understand the concept and components of knowledge management plan

SHE Manager at Petra Diamonds - Koffiefontein, South Africa

The position requires an assertive and self-motivated individual to lead and manage the SHE functions of Koffiefontein Mine.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the sustainability of SHE programmes through ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001
  • Interpret relevance and implementation of new legislation
  • Draw up and oversee the legitimacy of legal appointments at the Operation
  • Formulate SHE related policies, programmes and standards
  • Implement and sustain emergency response plans
  • Implement Life of Mine (LOM) ventilation planning
  • Support and participate in the formulation of business plans and strategic objectives for the Operation
  • Establish and maintain working relations with all applicable internal and external stakeholders

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements:
  • Grade 12
  • A completed qualification in any of the following:
    • Chamber of Mine Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
    • Degree/National Diploma in Environmental Manager
    • National Diploma in Safety Management
  • Valid drivers’ license (EB/08)
  • Advanced computer literacy in MS Office Suite and proven knowledge thereof
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a SHE mining environment at a managerial level

Other Skills/Competencies:
  • Organisational and Industry specific knowledge would be advantageous
  • Proven working knowledge and application of SHE legislation
  • High level of attention to detail with excellent time management, planning, coordinating and prioritizing skills
