Your contribution

You will be responsible for the overall development, management (programmatic, financial, administrative), and representation of PSI’s activities in Lesotho. This includes, but is not limited to:

Leadership of a senior management team including departmental heads of teams responsible for: marketing and communications; technical services; strategic evidence and research; finance & administration; and human resources;
Partnership and representation of PSI Lesotho with multiple donors, government and TWGs, NGO, and commercial entities;
Rapid advancement of objectives for all projects in PSI Lesotho’s portfolio;
Building a culture of routine data generation and use to inform programmatic decision-making;
Identification of opportunities for synergies and efficiencies among multiple projects and portfolios;
Rapid identification of potential challenges or roadblocks and collaborative, pro-active approaches to overcoming them; deploying timely technical assistance as appropriate;
Oversight of internal controls and accountability mechanisms;
Program development, including further innovation within existing program areas and expansion into new areas;
Demonstrating and promoting an ethical environment, in line with PSI’s values of honesty and acting with integrity;
Developing and maintaining systems that ensure the safety and security of the team and PSI assets in all aspects of its work per best practices, PSI operating standards and field realities;

What are we looking for?

The basics.

You have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience managing and implementing HIV testing and treatment programs in sub-Saharan Africa at the national and sub-national levels. Preference for previous experience in programs targeting key populations;
You have experience addressing HIV prevention and treatment approaches in line with UNAIDS’s 90-90-90 by 2020 goals;
You have experience integrating gender considerations across all project areas with special emphasis on GBV prevention and care;
You have experience managing budgets from a variety of funders in excess of $5m annually. Experience with USG funders (USAID, CDC, DoD) strongly preferred;
You have demonstrated experience working with host country governments, a diversity of funders, and providing support to local organizations;
You have routinely used research and M&E data to inform programmatic decisions and assure cost effectiveness;
You possess strong program management skills and experience interacting with, managing and mentoring a broad range of project staff;
You have demonstrated strong leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills;
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and cultural sensitivity.

 Introduction 
  1. The Court of Justice of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA Court of Justice) was established in 1994 under Article 7 of the COMESA Treaty (the Treaty) as one of the Organs of COMESA. The Court is comprised of two Divisions; the Appellate Division and the First Instance Division. The Court is composed of twelve Judges five of whom constitute the Appellate Division and seven constitute the First Instance Division.
  1. The Court sits on ad hoc basis, meaning that Judges sit as and when there are cases to be heard. However, it holds Administrative Meetings on a regular basis to discuss strategic issues and make decisions on policy issues concerning the Court. Pursuant to Rule 17 of the Rules of Court, the Court may hold its court sessions and exercise its functions in any Member State.
  1. Article 41 of the Treaty provides that the day-to-day operations of the Court are co-ordinated through a Court Registry which is headed by a Registrar who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Court. The Seat of the Court is currently in Khartoum, Sudan. The Registrar and other members of staff are permanent employees although the Court does from time to time use temporary employees and consultants.
Activities 
The activities to be carried out by the Consultant on the basis of the documentation availed by the Court of Justice will include the following:-
  • Formulate a policy document on terms and conditions of service for Judges with procedure for review;
  • Formulate a Code of Conduct for Judges to be contained in the said policy document;
  • Prepare a proposal on the review of the terms and conditions of service of Judges;
  • Review the current Court of Justice Staff Rules and Regulations and recommend those that need to be updated based on current best practices in the market;

The ISS is seeking a Researcher to work on conflict prevention. The two main areas of work involve providing policy makers with evidence-based research on innovation in conflict prevention in Africa, and helping to build the African Union Commission’s capacity to prevent, manage and resolve conflicts and promote stability.
The position involves: conducting primary and secondary research, analysis and writing; networking with relevant organisations, governments and civil society; and providing presentations and briefings on the research results. The researcher will report to the Senior Researcher in the Peace Operations and Peacebuilding Programme.
Overview of duties
  • Undertake ethical primary and secondary research and analysis, including field work where necessary
  • Develop practical policy recommendations based on findings
  • Actively communicate results to stakeholders through written products, verbal communication and media commentary

Job Purpose

Lead and supervise the Tellers team and Asset Custodian in order to provide an efficient service to customers. Assess, understand and manage the risks associated with telling transactions, handing up of cheque books, MasterCard and ATM cards and other functions carried out by subordinates. Maintain a high level of integrity and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Ensure that sufficient staff are always in place to meet the fluctuating demands of customers
Ensure that all required controls are in place and that teller transactions and handling of cash are performed in accordance with laid-down instructions.
Ensure that all required preventative measures to thwart the fraudulent cashing of cheques and other instruments as well as the acceptance of fraudulent deposits are rigidly applied.

Preferred Qualification and Experience

Degree in Management or equivalent
4 – 5 Years branch banking experience, with exposure to Telling and Customer Service
Institute of Bankers or related qualification would be an advantage.

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

Comprehensive knowledge of the bank’s laid-down policies and procedures relating to telling and customer service.
Knowledge of the New Delivery System (NDS) as it relates to own department.
Knowledge of the Code of Banking Practice.
Knowledge of Managing Local Market sales principles.
Understanding of service and sales initiatives.
Attendance of the relevant SBSA training courses, e.g product knowledge, sales skills.
Knowledge of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act.

Key deliverables:

The Assistant Representative establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with counterparts in government, multi-lateral and bilateral donor agencies and civil society to address emerging issues and to facilitate programme delivery. S/he is the primary implementer of the Country Programme as well as playing a leadership role with a programme team in the country office. The assistant Representative substantively contributes to the management of UNFPA activities in the areas of population and development, reproductive health and gender. Acting as an analyst/advisor, the Assistant Representative proactively provides the Representative or Country Director with information on achievement of results in the implementation of UNFPA programmes.
Requirements And QualificationsEducation:
Masters degree in Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Management or other related field.

Knowledge And Experience
5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the field of development and population activities, preferably in programme/ project design, appraisal and management
Demonstrated ability to refine programme design to ensure alignment of organizational programme objectives to national priorities and capacities
Knowledge of relevant international and national policies, plans and programmes in the field of population and development, reproductive health and gender
Proven ability to lead and manage teams to achieve demonstrable results
