Rigger
JOB DESCRIPTION/ PURPOSE
To routinely assess the condition, safety and efficiency of tools, machinery and equipment with the aim of maximizing production and minimizing plant downtime. Specifically the incumbent will conduct rigging study and setup lifting and moving of extremely large
or heavy objects by directing the rigging operation.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
2 – 3 years’ experience as a Rigger in a plant or manufacturing environment;
A relevant trade diploma or trade test certificate from a recognized / accredited institution;
Knowledge of rigging techniques, tools and principles in the plant maintenance and
construction environment;
Equipment selection – determining the kind of tools and equipment needed;
Use of machine and tools including their design, repair and maintenance.
Certified inspection qualification of lifting gear, steel wire ropes, slings and chain slings.
SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Time management;
Proficiency in English;
Optimal use of materials and spares;
Sound technical trouble shooting/ fault finding skills;
Hand-eye coordination;
Be able to do legal inspections of lifting equipment and devices.
Quality control and plant equipment maintenance, Police clearance and medical examinations of fitness as per the inherent requirements of the position,
Mobile crane operating permit or license will be an added advantage.

Note that these are Mine based Positions on a rotation cycle. Applicants must be aware of the remote location of the mine approximately 130km east-north-east of the Lesotho capital Maseru, 360km south of Johannesburg.
