The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) as a body that is mandated to deliver elections, is currently preparing for 2017 Local Government Elections. Applications from suitable Basotho nationals are invited to work as Temporary Voting Station Managers.
Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Returning Officer, the Voting Station Manager shall perform the following duties:
1. Supervise all activities connected with the pollinig station on voting day and during counting.
2. Oversees the balloting and counting of votes (ensuring adherence to procedures laid down by the Electoral Law and final accuracy and confidentiality of the count).
3. Ensure that staff and polling station environment are managed effectively and efficiently.
4. Ascertain that election materials are in place at the polling station at least two (2) days before voting.
5. Ensure that electoral material roll back is properly done.
6. Perform any other duties assigned by the Assistant Returning Officer, which are related to electoral activities.
Job Specification:
• Have at least a minimum of Diploma in Administration, Education or Management.
• Be registered as an Elector and first preference will be given to applicants who have registered in their respective Council.
• Management, teaching and extension experience will be an added advantage.
• Must be between the ages of 25 and 60.
Application forms are available at the Constituency Offices; they must be completed and returned to the same offices on or before 25th August, 2017. Applications must clearly indicate the position the applicant is applying for.
