Senior Programme Associate (Reports and Information)

Accountability:

Under the supervision of the Country Director’s office and in liaison with the Programme Unit, the incumbent will be required to carry out the following duties:

Prepare bi-weekly and monthly analytical internal and external reports for the country and WFP Regional Bureau office during the drought emergency

Support the preparation of Standard Project Reports (SPRs) for the Annual Reporting Exercise in collaboration with the country office’s functional units: programme, monitoring & evaluation, logistics and human resources

Monitor and review regular sources of information and data for preparation of reports, e.g. information from field offices, from NGOs, news clippings, surveys, food assessments Prepare regular situation reports on WFP activities

Assist in the preparation, writing and editing of other reports required by the Country Office and Headquarters.

Compile, in liaison with the Country Director briefing kits for the media and donors Take minutes at meetings, as required, and ensure they are promptly distributed

Assist in the preparation of donor appeals, project proposals and reports in collaboration with other Units.

Compile field-level information required for operational reports to donors and Headquarters for editing and additions.

Supply field staff with up-to-date information on WFP activities.

Liaise, as needed, with donors, NGOs and other UN agencies to highlight/publicize ongoing activities Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Country Director or Senior Management.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education/Essential: University degree with training and experience in journalism, English, international relations, communications or related field.

Experience: A minimum of three years’ progressively responsible, job related experience, including experience in the preparation and production of materials for publication.

Skills: Analytical ability, skill in developing sources for data collection, attention to details, good computer skills including knowledge of any publishing software, good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural team environment.

Ability to work with minimum supervision and to work accurately under time constraints and pressure. Should possess good writing skills and be able to write balanced reports and informational pieces on WFP activities and operations.

Ability to deal patiently and diplomatically with staff members and others and to have initiative and good judgment. Should be able to plan and organize work with minimal supervision

Languages: Fluency in both written and oral English.
