POLICE ACT AND PUBLIC SERVICE ACT: MPUMALANGA PROVINCE
The following minimum post requirements are applicable to the posts:
Salary level 5 (Secretary/Administration Clerk):
• Competency in the post-specific functions of the post
• Be a South African citizen
• Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
• Applicants in possession of a higher qualification in the specific field or who have completed an internship/currently undergoing an internship in the Public Service may receive preference
• Fluency in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
• Appropriate/relevant experience in the field of the post as well competency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint may be an advantage
• Must have no previous convictions or cases pending.
Salary level 2 (General Worker/Groundsman/Cleaner):
• Competency in the post-specific functions of the post
• Be a South African citizen
• Grade 10 qualification will serve as an advantage
• Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills
• Ability to read and write
• Ability to operate elementary machines and equipment
• Willingness to work extended hours, when necessary
• Fluency in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
• Must have no previous convictions or cases pending.
Social Worker (Forensic Social Work) (Captain – Band C):
• Competency in the post-specific functions of the post
• Be a South African citizen
• Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
• BA degree in Social Work and must be registered with the South African Council of Social Service Professionals
• Paid up fees for the 2016/2017 calendar year
• At least 2 years’ practical experience in Generic Social Work and proven experience in compiling court reports
• Portfolio of Evidence of 20 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points for the applicable calendar year
• Be suitable in terms of the requirements as set out in the Children’s Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005) and the Criminal Law (Sexual Offence and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007)
• Proven experience and training in the field of child abuse, child development and the assessment of children
• Willingness to undergo a psychometric test and/or security clearance vetting, whenever required to do so, and obtain the required security clearance
• At least a valid light vehicle driver’s licence
• Fluency in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
• Preference will be given to applicants who are proficient in Afrikaans in certain posts
• Competency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint may be an advantage
• Must have no previous convictions or cases pending.

MUSICIAN
Group Leader (Captain – Band C):
• Competency in the post-specific functions of the post
• Be a South African citizen • Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
• At least a valid light vehicle driver’s licence
• Relevant NQF5 qualification from an accredited tertiary institution, ie Unisa, Royal Schools, Trinity College, etc in performing on a specific military band musical instrument
• IDMAC/ISMF Group Leader qualification
• At least 2 years’ experience in the Military Band environment as a Section Leader
• Fluency in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
• Must have no previous convictions or cases pending.

Chief Musician (Warrant Officer – Band B):
• Competency in the post-specific functions of the post
• Be a South African citizen
• Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
• At least a valid light vehicle driver’s licence
• Relevant Grade 8 qualification from an accredited tertiary institution, ie Unisa, Royal Schools, Trinity College, etc in performing on a specific military band musical instrument or IDMAC/ISMF Chief Musician qualification
• At least 1 year’s experience in the Military Band environment
• Fluency in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
• Must have no previous convictions or cases pending.

Principal Musician (Sergeant – Band A):
• Competency in the post-specific functions of the post
• Be a South African citizen
• Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
• At least a valid light vehicle driver’s licence
• Relevant Grade 6 qualification from an accredited tertiary institution, ie Unisa, Royal Schools, Trinity College, etc in performing on a specific military band musical instrument
• IDMAC/ISMF Principal Musician qualification
• Must show practical competency or talent on the instrument as advertised (Recognition of Prior Learning)
• Fluency in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
• Must have no previous convictions or cases pending.

Senior Musician (Constable – Band A):
• Competency in the post-specific functions of the post
• Be a South African citizen
• Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
• At least a valid light vehicle driver’s licence
• Relevant musical qualification from an accredited tertiary institution, ie Unisia, Royal Schools, Trinity College, etc in performing on a specific military band musical instrument or IDMAC/ISMF Senior Musician or Musician qualification
• Must show practical competency on the instrument as advertised (Recognition of Prior Learning)
• Fluency in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
• Must have no previous convictions or cases pending.

SOCIAL WORKER PRACTICING FORENSIC SOCIAL WORK (4 POSTS)

Conduct a forensic investigative process in the investigation of child sexual abuse cases by means of:
• A forensic interview (assessments) of the child victim using age appropriate techniques in order to obtain accurate information from the child
• Obtaining corroborating information from all other sources
• Providing scientific-based court reports in order to assist the investigative and legal process
• Providing expert testimony based on the investigation of persons involved to court of law to legal authorities
• Possessing superior knowledge and insight concerning the dynamics of child sexual abuse and the latest research for court purposes
• Establishing and developing multidisciplinary teamwork
• Liaising with other departments and institutions and the relevant stakeholders to take cognisance of the latest development in the field of forensic social work
• Engaging in continuous professional development activities as prescribed.

• Render duties as a Call Taker to receive crime-related telephone calls from members of the public regarding incidents of crime either as a witness or victim or supplying information of crime or suspects
• Based on information gathered when asking required questions, make a decision on which complaint should be logged
• Register these incidents/complaints on the relevant computer system
• Prioritise complaints in terms of Alpha, Bravo and Charlie to indicate to dispatchers the seriousness of the complaints
• Deal with traumatised/impatient victims of crime
• When conversant as a Call Taker, render duties as a Call Dispatcher
• Dispatch complaints to response vehicles
• Receive feedback from response vehicles and capture results on the relevant computer system
• Follow up on outstanding complaints
• Activate other role-players to crime scenes
• Ensure all stations book on duty for attendance of complaints
• Ensure that police reaction time for complaints are met
• Capture data into the computer from a source document
• Exercise control to ensure that all work has been finalised
• Perform shift duties.

GENERAL WORKER (2 POSTS)

• Maintain and develop garden sections

• Be responsible for lawn maintenance and cultivation
• Be responsible for soil cultivating, digging, forking, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, bed preparation and planting
• Be responsible for garden assets and stock issued
• Act in a professional and responsible manner towards customers (including supervisor, members or visitors)
• Carry out any other duties commensurate with the post.
General:
• Only the official application form (available on the SAPS website and at SAPS recruitment offices) will be accepted. The Z83 previously utilised will no longer be accepted. All instructions on the application form must be adhered to. Failure to do so may result in the rejection of the application
• The post particulars and reference number of the post must be correctly specified on the application form
• Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae must be submitted together with the application form
• Certified copies of an applicant’s ID, Senior Certificate and all educational qualifications obtained, service certificates of previous employers stating the occupation, proof of relevant experience in the field of the post and motor vehicle driver’s licence
• The copies must be correctly certified on the copy itself, not at the back. The certification must not be older than 3 months
• Qualifications and driver’s licences submitted will be subjected to verification checking with the relevant institutions. The South African Police Service will verify the residential address of applicants and conduct reference checks
• Appointments will be made in terms of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 or Public Service Act, 1994 as applicable to the post environment
• Applicants appointed under the Police Service Act will be subjected to a medical assessment by a medical practitioner as determined by SAPS prescripts
• Applicants appointed under the Police Service Act will be subjected to undergo a lateral entry training programme at a SAPS training institution, where applicable
