POSITION: Security Manager
REPORTS TO: Operational Chief Executive Officer
DUTY STATION: SMD Mine @ Kao

JOB PURPOSE
• To ensure that Security Policies are not violated.
• To analyse security threats; both internal and external and report to the Operational Chief Executive Officer
• To grant access into the mine in relation to the set procedures.
• To arrange for the export of product within the bounds of the set policies and procedures.
• To provide escort for executive management visitors, especially to the red areas.
• To monitor the effectiveness of the procedures.
• To review and analyse footage from CCTV surveillance. Liaising with outside stakeholders such as the Police, Army, National Security Service, and the Disaster Management Authority. Liaising with the security contractor.
• To conduct product stock checks and sign off diamond registers for product export.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & RELATED EXPERIENCE • PIRSA registered at Grade A level
• National Diploma in Security Management or Equivalent
• 5 years’ experience in Security Management and mining industry
• 5 years’ experience In Risk Management and evaluations
• 5 years’ experience in Technical Security Management systems

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for conducting site reviews, writing audit/review reports, reviewing findings, and making recommendations to line management and /or their security coordinators.
• Administer, direct, and review security operation programs to ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, customers and others.
• Direct preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform managers, employees and others of security policies, procedures and practices.
• Fulfill all reporting requirements of all-relevant government rules and regulations.
• Responsible for planning, developing and implementing security plans, security programs Such as Emergency Response and Crisis Management, Physical Security, Information Protection, Incident Management and/or Investigation.
• Responsible to perform annual risk analysis, particularly with respect to level of crime, terrorism, workplace violence, threats from natural and man-made disasters.
• Responsible for providing leadership, advice and counsel to line management on security ‘policy and practices. Identifies exposures and to recommend and develop corrective plans as appropriate.
• Provide, advice and counsel to management on the expenditures of resources for protection of company assets where compromise or loss of these assets could seriously affect company business.
• Provides leadership, advice and counsel to all security staff in achieving Current and long-range strategic program objectives.
• Serves as staff support to security management and assists in conducting investigations of significant threats and/or the loss or misappropriation of assets.
• Performs Incident analysis and investigation relative to all incidents with advice and closure to all responsible functional management and supporting security management
• Develops and implements security coordinator program which includes developing a training program for all security coordinators.
• Represent the organization In formal meetings with outside organizations on matters
• Plans, directs, and ensures implementation of comprehensive security systems for protection of individuals, commercial and Industrial establishments under his responsibility.
• Plans and directs installation of electronic security systems, such as CCTV surveillance, entry controls, burglar alarms, smoke detectors and outdoor perimeter and microwave alarms.
• Conducts surprise security drills to check the efficiency of all security measures.
• Investigates crimes committed against client such as fraud, robbery, arson, and patent infringement.
• Organizes periodic training cadres to all security and administrative personnel dealing with the security of the establishment.

• Conduct ad hoc security-related Investigations or perform duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Familiar with investigation procedures and methods
• Adequate knowledge on the criminal act and human relations act
• Familiar with law of Security Officers
• Working Knowledge of CCTV hardware and software
• Should have in-depth knowledge of Security environment and security hazards
• Metallurgical plant knowledge and experience
• Good grasp of English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation
• Proficient computer skills and relevant working experience with MS Office Suit
• Expertise in security and related electronic systems
• Accurate management of control room CCTV and electronic equipment • Ability to conduct security related Risk Assessments within different types of industries
