SENIOR MINE PLANNER 
Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified individuals to apply for the position of Senior Mine Planner. 
Job purpose 
To produce mining plans covering a medium to long term time-frame. A key aspect of the role will be managing the life of mine (LoM) planning process which will be updated on an annual basis and will include inputs from other MRM disciplines and the financial department. A mine planner will report to the Senior Mine Planner. The Senior Mine Planner will also oversee the short-term planning. 
Responsibilities 
Reporting to the Mining Manager, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities; 
• Develop, maintain and present the life of mine (LoM) plan to Management as and when required; • Collate the relevant MRM, metallurgical and financial inputs and when necessary run pit optimizations for updating the LoM plan; 
• Carry-out detailed pit design and scheduling for the LoM plan in order to optimize the overall plan in line with LMDC’s business strategy; 
• Give special attention to the waste stripping schedule as all waste will be used for the tailings storage facility dam wall construction; 
• Sign off mineral reserves on an annual basis; 
• Ensure that the short-term plans compiled by the Mine Planner are in-line with the LoM plan; 
• Run mining fleet simulations with TALPAC or other similar software to that suitable fleet is adequately planned in order to meet the goals of the LoM plan; 
• Initiate and manage mining related projects on an ad-hoc basis in consultation with the Mining Manager; 
• Give special attention to ore blasting fragmentation in order to reduce diamond damage; 
• Monitor and make recommendations in order to minimize mining operating costs; 
• Adhere to Security and SHE standards, policies and procedures; 
• Seek development for continuous learning and knowledge improvement for self and subordinates. 
Legal and other requirements

• Valid driver’s license Qualifications and experience 
• 10 years’ open pit mine experience including at least 3 years in a planning role; 
• BSc.or Diploma in Mining or equivalent; 
• Sound knowledge of mine planning, scheduling and Pit Optimisation software.

MINING MANAGER 
Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified and competent individuals to apply for the position of Mining Manager. 
Job purpose 
To ensure the effective management of the LMDC Mining department and a Mining contractor in order to meet ore and waste production targets, considering both short and long term plans within the overall LMDC business strategy. Two Mine Planners will report to the Mining Manager. 
Responsibilities 
Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities; 
• Manage and interact with the Mining Contractor on the medium to long-term fleet requirements to ensure that mining related business goals will be achieved; 
• Liaise with the Metallurgical Department to ensure the continuous delivery of ore to the treatment plant taking into account ore blending requirements when necessary; 
• Interact closely with the Mineral Resource Manager in terms of ensuring the optimal extraction of the mineral resource; 
• Manage the various operations of the contractors in the mining operation (loading, hauling, blasting and drilling, explosive activities, etc); 
• Keep a focus on waste stripping in order to maintain adequate levels of blasted ore stocks and exposed ore reserves; 
• Develop and maintain management systems and controls in order to track and manage the achievement of production targets; 
• Pin-point production problems and bottlenecks and take decisive action to resolve these, applying management and technical approaches 
• Scrutinize short and long-term mining plans to ensure they are practical and achievable; 
• Manage the mining budget process and mining operating costs and contractual relationships; 
• Apply and manage the implementation of SHE strategies, best practice and risk management in the mining production environment and ensure that all mining activities comply with the company’s SHE policies and procedures;

• Willingness to undergo integrity tests including polygraph tests regularly. 
Qualifications and experience 
• 10 years’ open pit experience in with a proven track record in a senior or managerial position; 
• A Degree or Diploma in mining engineering; 
• An in depth knowledge of all open-pit unit mining operations; 
• Well versed in the MS office suite.

MECHANICAL FOREMAN

Job purpose 
Responsible for providing mechanical services with specific responsibility for guiding subordinates/mechanical staff, ensuring completion of projects in accordance with trade standards, providing information on the proper use of equipment. 
Responsibilities 
Under the direct supervision of the Engineering Manager, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities; 
• Ensure compliance and adherence to SHE policies, programs, practices, safety standards and regulations; 
• Analyze documents and materials for existing and proposed mechanical systems; 
• Collaborate with Site Engineer to receive plans and/or instructions relating to new replacements; 
• Collaborate with Mechanical Charge Hand and other skilled Artisans for the purpose of completing projects / work orders efficiently;

Responsibilities 
Under the direct supervision of the Mechanical Foreman, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities;

• Examine detailed drawings or specifications to find out job, material and equipment requirements; • Setup and adjust metal working machines and equipment;
