Scholarships for Lesotho Applicants at University of Manchester in UK, 2016


Over nine GDI scholarships are available for nationals of DAC-listed least developed countries at University of Manchester. Scholarships provide full tuition fee waivers for on-campus masters programmes starting in September 2016.

Scholarships aim is to create and share knowledge to inform and influence policy makers, organisations and corporations, so that they can make positive changes for people living in poverty.
The Global Development Institute will build on the University of Manchester’s world-leading reputation for Development Studies research, which has seen us ranked 1st for impact and 2nd for quality in the UK Research Excellence Framework 2014, and third in the QS World University Rankings.
Applicants must hold a first class honours bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and an overall score of 6.5 in IELTS (or similar exam), with 6.5 in writing and no other subsections below 6.0.

Course Level: Scholarships are offered for pursuing masters programmes.

Study Subject: Scholarships are provided within the School of Environment, Education and Development.

Scholarship Award: Scholarship provides full tuition fee waivers for on-campus masters programmes.

Eligibility: In order to apply for scholarship, student must follow the given criteria:
-Applicants must already hold an unconditional offer for an eligible Masters programme
-Applicants must be a national of and resident in a DAC-listed least developed, other low-income or lower-middle income country.
-Applicants for international scholarships must not have previously studied in an OECD country.
-Applicants must hold a first class honours Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and an overall score of 6.5 in IELTS (or similar exam), with 6.5 in writing and no other subsections below 6.0.

Nationality: Nationals of DAC-listed least developed, other low-income or lower-middle income country can apply.

College Admission Requirement: Applying for a taught master’s course at SEED is a structured, competitive process.  In order for your application to be considered, student needs to provide with the following information:
-completed application form
-A personal statement – visit the Careers Service website for guidance on how to complete your personal statement
-A minimum of one reference – preferably academic
-A copy of your degree certificate for completed Bachelor degree(s)
-Copies of other relevant certification, including Postgraduate degree(s)
English Language Requirement: Applicants must hold an overall score of 6.5 in IELTS (or similar exam), with 6.5 in writing and no other subsections below 6.0.

How to Apply: Students can begin completing their online application by visiting the University’s taught master’s page.

Application Deadline: The closing date for applications for September 2016 will be 29th April 2016, but earlier application is advisable.
