ELECTRICIAN 
Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified and competent individuals to apply for the vacant position of Electrician. 
Job purpose 
To routinely assess the safety and efficiency of tools, machinery and equipment with the aim of maximizing production and minimizing plant downtime. 
Responsibilities 
Under the direct supervision of the Electrical Foreman, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities; 
• Ensure adherence and compliance to overall SHE policies, procedures and best practices and complete necessary risk assessments; 
• Comply with legislative and operational requirements; 
• Receive maintenance assignments for completion and plan, prioritize and organize equipment to be used; 
• Identify any problem or maintenance requirement through observation and technical checks; 
• Apply technical knowledge and skills to select the best cost effective solution to resolve the problem; 
• Re-commission the electrical installation on completion of repairs/ additions; 
• Report on completed electrical maintenance assignments to line supervisor; 
• Inspect and maintain the standby generators; 
• Carry-out isolation, energizing and resetting of electrical equipment up to 33kv 
• Provide input to electrical planning process in terms of electrical and related materials required; 
• Install/Erect appropriate electrical materials/components to construction site as directed by the Foreman and in an appropriate configuration according to applicable standards and procedures; 
• Monitor the level of operation of the electrical system and implementation modification; 
• Install, repair and maintain the electrical distribution network; 
• Monitor power supply quality; 
• Monitor adherence by contractors to agreed scope of work according to service level agreements; • Ensure adherence to engineering quality standards in maintenance of equipment and machinery by assistants; 
• Coach and assist with on the job training and learner ships and seek developmental opportunities for oneself and subordinates. 
Legal and other requirements 
• Police clearance and medical examinations of fitness as per the inherent requirements of the position; 
• Valid driver’s license; 
• Free from vertigo and not colour blind. 
Qualifications and experience 
• 2 – 3 years’ experience as an Electrician in a plant or manufacturing environment; 
• A relevant trade diploma or certificate from an accredited/ recognized institution 
• Practical knowledge of high voltage electrical engineering techniques, tools and principles in the plant maintenance or construction environment; 
Skills and competencies 
• Time management; 
• Optimal use of materials and spares; 
• Sound Technical trouble shooting/fault finding 
• Proficiency in English; 
• Quality control and plant equipment maintenance; 
Attributes 
• Consistent with agreed principles of correct moral conduct 
• The ability to use/ select equipment and determine the kind of tools to do the job including their design, repair and maintenance;
