JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of Laboratory Technologist the Microscopist   will be responsible for the following functions
KEY PERFORMANCE OUTPUT:
    • Follow safety measures for handling sputum samples and performing TB microscopy (including disinfection of table and hands, ventilation).
  • Prepare smears and stain them.
  • Receive and record sputum samples Read smears, Record results in the Tuberculosis Laboratory Register/LIS and Report results within a day.
  • Keep smears serially in a slide box until reviewed for Quality assurance.
  • Prepare and analyze patients’ samples for GeneXpert
  • Maintain TB laboratory equipment in good working condition and log all relevant log sheets.
  • Prepare statistics without fail at the end of each month and submit to NTRL lab in-charge.
  • Maintain records of TB Laboratory consumables and reagents; ensure proper storage.
  • Calculate required TB Laboratory consumables and reagents for each quarter
  • Ensure TB laboratory premises are neat and clean.
  • Dispose contaminated material as per Safety guidelines.

The Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) Secretariat is housed within the Agriculture and Commodities Division.
The Languages, Documentation and Information Management Divisionprovides three types of complementary services:
  • Linguistic services: Translation of some 40 million words and interpretation for some 3,000 sessions per year; 
  • Documentation services: Graphic design, text-processing, printing, and dissemination of materials;
  • Information management services: WTO library, correspondence, registration of notifications, archiving and preservation of materials, and on-line document research.
The Trade in Services and Investment Division provides support and technical advice to WTO members on the implementation of the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and on further negotiations mandated by the Agreement. The work of the Division entails supporting the Council for Trade in Services (both in regular and special session) as well as other bodies established under the GATS such as the Committee on Financial Services, the Committee on Specific Commitments, the Working Party on Domestic Regulation, and the Working Party on GATS Rules.

In the summer of 2017, the Mandela Washington Fellowship will bring up to 1,000 young African leaders to the United States for six weeks of academic coursework and leadership training at a US university or college, focusing on one of three tracks: Business and Entrepreneurship, Civic Leadership, or Public Management.
