The Government of Lesotho has secured funds from Global Fund (GF) to fight HIV and AIDS as well as TB and Malaria. The overall coordination of the funds is the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance, the Principal Recipient of these funds through the established Program Implementation Unit, the Global Fund Coordinating Unit (GFCU).
The Ministry of Health has been selected as the major Sub Recipient to most of the signed grants between the MOF and the GF.  To enable the GFCU to discharge its mandate of coordinating MOH Global Fund supported activities effectively, workforce is required. The MOH therefore invites suitably qualifies candidates for the position below:

Based at Mini Lab 12  ( Maputsoe Filter,  Semonkong, Katse, Thabana Morena, St Mathews  , Sehlaba-Thebe, Mapholaneng, Mohale, Nohana, Bobete, Nkau and Tlhanyaku )
Hospital 6 (Machabeng Hospital, Mamohau Hospital, Nts’ekhe Hospital, Tebellong Hospital and Mafeteng Hospital X 2)                                                                                         
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of Laboratory Technologist the Microscopist   will be responsible for the following functions
KEY PERFORMANCE OUTPUT:
    • Follow safety measures for handling sputum samples and performing TB microscopy (including disinfection of table and hands, ventilation).
  • Prepare smears and stain them.
  • Receive and record sputum samples Read smears, Record results in the Tuberculosis Laboratory Register/LIS and Report results within a day.
  • Keep smears serially in a slide box until reviewed for Quality assurance.
  • Prepare and analyze patients’ samples for GeneXpert
  • Maintain TB laboratory equipment in good working condition and log all relevant log sheets.
  • Prepare statistics without fail at the end of each month and submit to NTRL lab in-charge.
  • Maintain records of TB Laboratory consumables and reagents; ensure proper storage.
  • Calculate required TB Laboratory consumables and reagents for each quarter
  • Ensure TB laboratory premises are neat and clean.
  • Dispose contaminated material as per Safety guidelines.

Education, Experience and Training
Basic training on health related programme with 6 months experience in laboratory related activities.
