The role
The Manager Projects have overall responsibility for all projects being executed in the Sandvik Mining Systems Division in Bedfordview. The Mining Systems unit specializes in LSTK and EPCM projects with a focus on all types of Conveyors as well as Bulk Materials Handling systems incorporating equipment such as Stackers, Reclaimers and Shiploaders etc.
The Manager Projects will report to the Vice President Market Operations Africa with an indirect reporting line to the Global Manager Projects.
Key performance areas
- Ensure that all Mining Systems projects are delivered on time, within the project budget and in accordance with the relevant specifications and quality requirements.
- Overall Profit and Loss responsibility on all Projects
- Resource Management within the Projects Management department
- Improving operational efficiency and GP margins
- Accurate monthly reporting of all Project results
- Enhancing existing and developing new systems and procedures to ensure improved operation of the business unit within the overall Sandvik Corporate Governance Model
Your profile
Candidates must have an Engineering degree or Diploma in Engineering as a minimum. (Mechanical, structural, civil or electrical will be preferred) Relevant Project Management experience on large multi-disciplinary LSTK projects in a materials handling environment is essential together with proof of detail knowledge of Contract Management. PMP Certification will be advantageous. In addition, a post graduate Business Management qualification as well as a good working knowledge of and experience in Bulk Materials Handling Systems and Machines will be advantageous. Candidates must have a minimum of five years senior management experience in a similar role. Candidates must be computer literate with in depth knowledge of Word, Excel and MS Project as a minimum, fluent in English and have a valid driver’s license.
