POSITION: Mine Planner-Medium Term (Paterson Band DL)
PURPOSE: The Mine Planner will produce mining plans covering a 1 to 5 year time frame and constantly update these plans. Output of the medium term planning process will inform the life of mine planning process.
QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent, 6 – 7 years relevant mine production and planning experience in a large +30 million tonnes per annum open pit environment, Xpac, Talpac, GEOVIA Surpac, Whittle and other appropriate mine planning
software, Extensive experience in using the above software packages, certified Blasting Licence, Light Vehicle Driver’s Licence.
ATTRIBUTES: Operational knowledge of open pit diamond mining processes, Large open pit production mining experience, Relevant open pit mine planning skills, Ability to evaluate the impact of changes in the mine plan to the business, Knowledge and understanding of mine engineering theory and principles, Ability to analyse situations to arrive at the best possible solution, Strong knowledge and use of the Microsoft office suite, Coaching & Mentoring, Excellent written and oral communications skills, Ability to prepare and present mining plans and reports to Senior Management.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Candidates will be required to undergo a Medical Examination of fitness as per requirements. This is a permanent and pensionable position, based at the mine, on single status.
