Regional Logistics Manager, Africa
The role
Management of the Logistics function within SMART Parts & Services to ensure cost effective and on-time distribution of parts and tools to internal and external Sandvik Customers.
Key performance areas
- Manage regional function and actively contribute to the reduction of cost. (Operational Budget -- 20MEUR)
- Provide leadership to the regional Logistics Team
- Manage performance and compliance of Logistics Service Providers (Including Customs Brokers)
- Manage and Develop Continuous Improvement initiatives for the logistics operation, focussed on the optimal (best cost) distribution of goods through the network and meeting service delivery targets
- Manage the overall customer order flow process through logistics operations, which includes order administration, expediting, delivery, etc.
- Facilitate a sustainable workforce through a formal succession plan using and applying the most up to date training methods.
Your profile
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification
- Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management or a related field desirable
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar position in a Warehousing/Distribution/Supply Chain environment
- Experience managing internal and/or external customer service department desirable
- Minimum 5 years experience in managing people or teams in different locations in Africa required
- Minimum 3 years complex project management experience in project engineering in the bulk materials industry
- Experience of working with material management and finished goods inventory management operations planning and inventory controls.
- Good understanding of mining industry service operations and link to logistics.
- Good working knowledge of International Trade and Freight Insurance processes
- Good working knowledge of Operational Freight processes (Booking, Invoice Validation)
- Experience in managing Logistics Service Providers
- Experience with a Transport Management System desirable
- Prior exposure to Aurora, DI and Qlikview desirable
- Proficient in Microsoft office – Excel Dashboards
- Exposure to Accounts Payable Processes
- Frequent travel in Africa required
- International travel required in line with business needs
