Administrative Assistant Wanted at NEPAD



The NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Administrative Assistant.
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer of the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) or his/her delegate, the Administrative Assistant Development will provide specialised and function-specific support in their respective fields in the administration and management of the Office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).. The Administrative Assistant will provide overall administrative and logistical support; prepare, vet and finalize documents for transmission and dissemination; develop and apply templates for records management systems; respond to correspondence; take responsibility for preparation and organization of  meetings, conferences and workshops; and follow up on actions.
Required Skills and Competencies
  1. Excellent secretarial and office management skills as well as a good understanding of office practices and procedures.
  2. High level professional integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  3. Excellent writing and work presentation skills, with attention to the aesthetics of documents.
  4. Ability to work with a team of professional staff and other colleagues.
  5. Excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills, especially telephone and public relations skills.
  6. Good knowledge of the secretarial functions of international organisations and NEPAD Agency.
  7. Ability to work with minimal supervision, be proactive and creative.
  8. Possession of energy, drive, enthusiasm, commitment and passion for high quality work.
  9. Good analytical, organization and planning skills.
  10. Effective time management skills.
  11. Capacity to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure with a wide range of individuals and institutions.
  12. Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment.
Education and Experience:
Candidates for administrative assistant positions are expected to possess a minimum qualification of a College Diploma or Certificate in General Administration, Office Administration, Secretarial Studies, Management, Communication, Information Management System, Linguistics or related disciplines. A university degree and appropriate professional qualification in these fields will be an added advantage.  Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a public sector institution or an international organization.

Remuneration: An indicative basic salary of US$14,852.00 per annum plus other entitlements such as post adjustment (57% of basic salary), housing allowance, and pension (19% of gross salary) among others in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
