COUNSEL CONTRACT MANAGEMENT *1 – REF: CCM
Purpose:
The purpose of the function is to effectively and efficiently manage contract creation, execution and analysis for purposes of maximizing financial and operational performance of the Bank, while minimizing its exposure to legal risk.
Reports to:
Head, Legal and Advisory Counsel
Areas of Responsibility include:
Develop, review and negotiate contracts on behalf of the Bank
Facilitate implementation and execution of contracts
Facilitate amendment and review of contracts
Ensure contract compliance
Ensure that contract renewal dates are complied with
Operate the contract management system
Provide legal advice and opinion
Perform any functions as may be allocated from time to time
Candidate will, among others, have to do the following:
Assess the need for a contractual relationship to be established
Develop contracts, primarily from templates
Identify contractual risks and suggest solutions
Engage with stakeholders on contract terms and conditions
Secure the necessary approvals to have contracts signed
Monitor specific performance obligations and identify potential breaches
Notify clients of expiration dates
Perform routine contract reviews and evaluations
Maintain both hard and electronic contractual records
Continuously research and provide up to date legal opinion and advice
Develop and implement procedures and policies for contract management
The candidate must have the following skills:
Strong analytical, drafting and negotiation skills with minimal supervision
Computer awareness
Organisation and time management
Good verbal and communication skills
Detail and solution oriented, self-motivated, a quick learner with strong work ethic.
In addition to the above skills, all candidates wishing to apply should have the following qualifications and experience to be considered at least:
Minimum requirement is Master’s Degree in Law.
A qualification in Contract Management will be an added advantage.
Five (5) years’ relevant experience is preferred.
