2-year Fixed-term Contract Shift Boss – Construction Expansion Project
Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants who will be responsible for the achievement of production targets, budget and cost control as well as safety and risk assessment audits, evaluations and reports in the construction section of the Underground Expansion Project.
Tasks and responsibilities:
• Install all services underground, construction of ventilation walls and concrete slabs, building secondary support installations, drilling, blasting and shotcrete
• Liaise with a multidisciplinary team to achieve set targets
• Production and construction planning
• Manage fleet utilisation and cave management compliance
• Manage costs, ordering of items and time keeping
• Ensure crew members adhere to Security and SHE policies and procedures
• Train and develop subordinates
• Work shifts, overtime, standby and be available for call-outs when required.
Minimum requirements:
• Grade 12 or NQF Level 3 (relevant to position)
• Valid Permanent Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines/National Certificate Rockbreaking Underground Hard Rock Level 3
• Valid driver’s licence
• 3 years’ experience as an Underground Shift Boss
• Experience in a mining construction environment
• Computer literate in MS Office suite.
Other skills/competencies:
• Good verbal and written communication in English
• Independent, proactive thinker and ability to do own job planning and make decisions
• Supervisory/people management skills.
