SURVEILLANCE MANAGER
AVANI LESOTHO HOTEL & CASINO
Main Purpose of the Job:
Reporting to the Area General Manager, the incumbent shall be responsible for coordinating and managing Surveillance operations. Coordinates and participates in the observation and recording of gaming activities to help safeguard the casino assets and provide a safe environment for guests and employees. The incumbent shall regulate adherence to all regulatory, departmental, and casino policies and procedures, including the tribal internal control standard (TICS) and minimum internal control system (MICS).
Education, experience and competencies required:
• Diploma in Security or Surveillance Management
• Minimum of 5 years Surveillance or Loss Control experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience of which 5 years at middle management level
• Computer literacy
• Ability to assess and train staff effectively to meet standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential
• Proven strong leadership and managerial skills
Duties and responsibilities include:
• Implement the Departmental Strategy and align it to the unit strategy, objectives and unit risk profiles as well as Compliance with legislation
• Ensure that the Gaming compliance policies meet the strategic and legislative requirements
• Ensure that all service providers and contractors comply with and perform according to set criteria and that they meet the company Procurement policies
• Ensure that Department staff is aware of the operational and job requirements through up to date job profiles, performance contracting and standard operating procedures
• Budget forecasts and control: ensure that all Capex is aligned to strategy and operational requirements and budgets should meet operational requirements and unit strategy.
• Maintains effective communication between the Surveillance staff and the Executive Management regarding compliance issues
• Immediately reports suspicious or unusual activities to the proper Supervisor, Manager, Area General Manager
• Reviews and participates in all investigations performed by Surveillance Monitoring Officers, and Casino Management
• Collects information from Surveillance Staff and compiles reports for review by the Executive Management and Casino Management
• Regularly sweeps the casino by means of the video equipment to detect irregularities, safety and security issues
• Monitor flow of guests and staff within the Casino
• Alerts security staff via radio of the infractions, such as loitering, carrying forbidden items such as alcohol
• Makes notification to appropriate authorities in the event that there an extreme emergency such as robbery, fi re or a serious ill or injured person
• Completes reports documenting unusual occurrences, thoroughly detailing factual information of all activity performed
• Adheres to all policies and procedures of surveillance and security
• Fosters and maintains positive staff relations
• Prevents threats such as crime, fi re, vandalism and terrorism at places of business;
• Monitors the behavior customers through video cameras or in-person observations, and create and enforce security policies for their organizations
