Job Title : Systems Support Officer
Grade : G
Responsible to : Systems Administrator
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Systems Administrator, the Systems Support Officer is responsible for ensuring the provision of continuous availability of information and communications services by accurate and interrogative monitoring of the overall operations of information and communication systems, network and associated hardware to identify user requirement, complaints and system faults and provide the necessary solutions.
Main Duties
• Identifies requirement for system hardware and software and liaises with IT manager and Systems Administrator to ensure that adequate resources are in place and correctly configured for IEC systems.
• Provide network services and overall security of all IT systems used by the Commission.
• Initialises external service for major faults.
• Provide services to new users, set-up passwords, allocates email and other identifiers.
• Ensuring the effective transfer of learning into the workplace.
• Provides support on online databases like oracle database, SQL and server and salaries environment.
• Provides systems support to Financial Management System (like ACCPAC), Human Resources Information System and other IEC systems.
• Coordinates the activity with the Database Administrator to ensure the continual security and integrity of the computer room and server.
• Assesses requirements and requisitions of consumable items and replacement accessories
• Provides periodic status reports to the Systems Administrator.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The incumbent must have:
• BSC in Computer Science or equivalent plus two (2) years working experience in a networking environment.
OR
• A diploma in Computer Science, Systems analysis and design with A+, N+ or equivalent plus at least five (5) years working experience in a networking environment.
OTHER NECESSARY SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
• Ability to handle and solve recurring problems with minimal supervision.
• Ability to establish priorities.
• Working knowledge of modules like GIS, MCSE and other modern applications.
• Interpersonal skills
• Communication skills
• Analytical skills
• Decision-making skills
