Software Technician Job at Liqhobong Mining Development Company
Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified and competent Lesotho nationals to apply for the vacant position of Software Technician (Process Control).
Job purpose
Responsible for ensuring the availability of the plant by maintaining all software according to Liqhobong Mining Development Company Standards and by applying best programming practices.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Technician the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities;
Maintain all PLC and SCADA software;
Participate in investigating and taking corrective actions in the event of software failures and or incidents;
Ensure that LMDC Safety Policy is applied by executing scheduled software PLC/SCADA backups;
Applies software theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational control equipment or circuitry;
Assembles and test experimental and operational software and instrumentation devices and other equipment and components according to engineering data, LMDC best practices and acknowledge C&I Principles
Apply good fault finding techniques on all plc/ scada process related incidents with corrective action;
Assist the Instrument Technicians with good fault finding techniques on the software, as well as in the field;
Ensure that all Change Management documents are completed before any software changes are made to the PLC/ Scada by requestors.
Legal and other requirements
Police clearance and medical examinations of fitness
Valid driver’s license
Qualifications and experience
5 years’ hands on mining experience;
Instrumentation qualification;
Experience in computerized Maintenance management system will be an added advantage;
Knowledge of servers, network switches
Strong PLC Knowledge (Allen Bradley);
Strong SCADA knowledge (RS Logix 5000)
