The NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency invites application from Africans for the post of Country Operations & Partnerships Coordinator, Southern Africa
As a partnership platform, Grow Africa helps the companies, governments and other partners collaborate in support of Africa’s agricultural transformation. This work includes facilitating information flows that foster mutual accountability and improve priority setting; thereby enabling partners to better address constraints within the business environment, whilst increasing their development impact.  Grow Africa seeks a relationship/project manager to coordinate this work as country operations and partnerships mostly with private sector. 
The role involves extensive travel for up to 50% of the time, mainly in main cities and sometimes in remote rural areas.

In October 2011, with funding from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), a partnership of local and international NGOs, led by PSI Lesotho, launched the LETLAMA project. LETLAMA was designed to engage multiple organizations to implement high-quality, locally-produced social and behavior change communication interventions that motivate individuals and create supportive communities for the adoption and sustained use of HIV prevention products and services.
A single evidence-based, theory-informed strategy guides the design and implementation of all communication activities implemented by LETLAMA. Tied together under a single brand, Pusha Love, these activities work at several levels of the socio-ecological framework to create a “surround sound “effect for primary audiences. This effect ensures that audiences are continuously exposed to program messages from several different sources and is complemented by active linkages to HIV prevention products and services.
Objectives and Target Audience
The Pusha Love program focuses on supporting Basotho youth and adults to:
• Increase correct and consistent condom use;
• Increase knowledge of one's own HIV status and one's partner's status;
• Increase use of HIV prevention services, such as PMTCT and VMMC; and,
• Increase adoption of safer sexual behaviours, such as partner reduction.
The communication associates will work with marketing and IPC to provide technical assistance on communication skills, message development, field support and supervision, management, assessment, monitoring, and evaluation.

Your contribution
The work to be completed under this consultancy is:
• Review PSI/Lesotho's current messaging and the tools/job aids used to deliver the messages
• Review, improve or develop 'ideal' vehicles for message delivery, mostly but not limited to counselling and IPC
• order to identify areas for improvement
• Finalise outstanding job aides/tool kits
• Clearly identify target audiences and their influencers and develop archetypes
• Review best practise in messaging among target populations identified, including analysis of literature review to be provided by DC
• Develop or improve messages and tools/job aids, and make changes depending on pre-test results
• Work with IPC TA to improve or adapt delivery models and IPC/peer-to-peer curriculums
• Facilitate a workshop with program staff and partners to review messages, target audience archetype development and get consensus
• Make changes to messaging, materials and delivery methods
• Ensure adherence to PSI's global standards and procedures
• Liaise with key stakeholders involved in the project at all levels to inform them of progress as required.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate
  • Advanced university degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Public Health, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Sanitation Engineering, or a field relevant to international WASH related development assistance.
  • Additional training in Health Education or Communication for Development (Programme Communication), an asset.

Global Village and Youth Programme Assistant


Durban has been selected to host the 21st International AIDS Conference from 18 to 22 July 2016 (AIDS 2016). The International AIDS Conference is the largest conference on any global health or development issue. First convened during the peak of the AIDS epidemic in 1985, the conference continues to provide a unique forum for the intersection of science and advocacy, and an opportunity to strengthen policies and programmes to ensure an evidence-based response to the epidemic.
The International AIDS Conference is the largest international meeting on a single health issue, where every two years between 15,000 - 22,000 participants representing all stakeholders in the global response to HIV meet to assess progress and identify future priorities. With more than 1,500 international journalists expected to attend, the conference is the single most widely-covered HIV event in the world.
Founded in 1988, the International AIDS Society (IAS) is the world's largest association of HIV professionals, with members from more than 180 countries. IAS members work on all fronts of the global response to AIDS, and include researchers, clinicians, policy and programme planners and public health and community practitioners on the frontlines of the epidemic. The International AIDS Society (IAS) will organize AIDS 2016 in collaboration with international and local partners.

Details of Employment:
The Global Village and Youth Programme Assistant will be based in Durban, South Africa. He/she will report to the Global Village and Youth Programme Manager based in Durban, and will work closely with the Global Village and Youth Programme Officer and the Cultural Activities Officer. The incumbent will be expected to work 50% supporting the Global Village and Youth Programme Officer and 50% supporting the Cultural Activities Officer. This percentage may vary depending on the time period. The position is full-time and fixed-term from 9 May 2016 to 5 August 2016.
Purpose of the Position:
The Global Village, open to registered conference participants and the general public, provides learning and interactive open spaces to share experiences of diverse communities affected by and responding to HIV. The AIDS 2016 Youth Programme aims to support the meaningful participation of young people throughout all levels of the conference, including planning and development. The programme also aims to ensure the visibility of youth throughout the conference, including the Global Village.
The incumbent will assist both the Global Village and Youth Programme Officer and the Cultural Activities Officer with the management and support of the Global Village at AIDS 2016.
Main Responsibilities:
General support to the Global Village:
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing Global Village and Youth Programme activities, including the provision of logistical support, scheduling, and resource mobilization for volunteers, conference materials and equipment;
  • Assist in organizing, coordinating and supporting the work of the Global Village and Youth Programme Working Group, including activity selection and placement;
  • Responsiveness to general inquiries which relate to “how to get involved” in the Global Village and Youth Programme for AIDS 2016;
  • Assist with the coordination of the Global Village and Youth Programme application process, including outreach, marketing and promotion, and follow-up to applicants as required;
  • Assist with developing programme activity work plans and budgets, progress reports, minutes from Working Group meetings and printed material content, as required;
  • Assist in preparing a final post-conference report for the Programme Activities team at AIDS 2016;
  • Assist with the preparation of events related documentation as required, including: drafting of invitations, contracts, contact listings/directories, build up/down plans and schedules;
  • Assist in developing and maintaining systems and processes which effectively record, manage outputs (deliverables) of the Global Village and Youth Programme for AIDS 2016;
  • When required, assist at meetings of the governing bodies, committees and working groups for AIDS 2016.
Support to the Cultural Activities of the Global Village:
  • Assist in responding to inquiries, following-up with applicants;
  • Working collaboratively with local and international planning committees, the IAS and co-organizers and other conference secretariat departments to coordinate and schedule cultural activities;
  • Assist in the set-up of technical equipment (incl. sound- and light checks);
  • Providing all necessary support for the set-up and implementation of cultural activities;
  • Helping to develop activity work plans.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Global Village and Youth Programme Manager, the Global Village and Youth Programme Officer and the Cultural Activities Officer.
Academic Qualifications:
  • A degree in business administration, events/hospitality management or a related field is favorable.
Work Experience:
  • Experience in event/stage management;
  • Experience in audiovisual production would be an asset.
Skills/Competencies:
  • Knowledge and experience of working in HIV/AIDS or related field would be preferable;

Details of Employment:
The Project Officer will be based in Durban. He/she will report to the Director, Resource Mobilization and Development and will also work with the Senior Manager, Communications both based in Geneva. The position is full-time and fixed-term to start as soon as possible until 30 September 2016.
Purpose of the Position:
The incumbent will provide support to AIDS 2016, with a particular focus in Resource Mobilization & Development and Communications.
Main Responsibilities:
Resource Mobilization & Development:
  • Work with the Director, Resource Mobilization and Development and other colleagues to follow up on donor and sponsor conversations: Securing commitments, negotiating terms of agreements and following up on payments;
  • Develop presentations, project proposals, concept notes and agreements, with input – where required – from IAS project managers;
  • Arrange, document and follow up on meetings;
  • Assist as required during AIDS 2016 (16-22 July 2016);
  • Contribute to donor reporting post-AIDS 2016.
Communications:
  • Coordinate and support AIDS 2016 Communications activities such as copy-editing, content collections, taking pictures at events, printed materials, flyers etc;
  • Liaise with the Communications team based in Geneva.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Director, Resource Mobilization and Development and the Senior Manager, Communications.
Academic Qualifications:
  • A degree in business administration, international relations, public relations, political sciences or a related field is favorable.
Work Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in project management, fundraising, business development or communications;
  • Experience in corporate, foundation, and/or non-profit organization would be an asset;
  • Experience working with conferences or large events would be an asset.
