CHIEF CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND LEGAL OFFICER
The Lesotho Postbank invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of the Chief Corporate Affairs and Legal Officer which entails, inter alia, provision of corporate secretarial functions and matters relating to litigation, legislation, contracts and general legal advice to the Board and Management.
Reporting to the Managing Director the incumbent will among others perform the following;
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties of the position Board include but are not limited to:
BOARD
a. providing the Directors of the company collectively
and individually with guidance as to their duties,
responsibilities and powers;
b. inducting new Directors and making arrangements for
training of Directors
c. facilitating annual board evaluation
d. making the Directors aware of any law relevant to or
affecting the company;
e. reporting to the company’s board any failure on the
part of the company or a Director to comply with the
Memorandum of Incorporation or rules of the company
or the Financial Institutions Act 2012 (the FIA);
f. in consultation with the Managing Director, arranging and
preparing for Board and Committee meetings
g. ensuring that minutes of all shareholders meetings,
board meetings and the meetings of any committees
of the Board are properly recorded, a p p r o v e d a n d
s e c u re l y f i l e d ;
h. certifying in the company’s annual financial statements
whether the company has filed required returns and
notices in terms of the FIA, and whether all such returns
and notices appear to be true, correct and up to date;
i. ensuring that a copy of the company’s annual financial
statements is sent, in accordance with the FIA, to every
person who is entitled to it;
MANAGEMENT
The duties of the incumbent to Management include but are
not limited to:
a. interpreting laws and statutes for management
b. proactively providing legal advice and opinion to management
and staff;
c. reviewing all contracts with third parties before contract
signing; and safe-keeping of all signed original contracts
with third parties;
d. providing services of Commissioner of Oaths for authentication
of documents;
e. preparing for, taking minutes of and filing approved minutes
of all meetings of the Executive Committee (EXCO);
f. assisting and advising Management on matters of good
governance;
g. overseeing all matters of litigation by or against the bank, and
briefing external counsel when necessary;
h. overseeing legal aspects from legal personnel in other
departments
Employee Competencies
The position requires the incumbent to serve as a focal point for
communication with the Board of Directors, Senior Management
and LPB Shareholders. The incumbent also occupies a key role
in the administration of corporate governance matters. To this
end, the position requires the incumbent to have the following
competencies;
a. Knowledge and understanding of all relevant laws and their
applicability, in particular Companies Act 2011, Financial
Institutions Act 2012, Corporate Governance (King III),
Contract and/or Commercial law, civil and criminal procedure
b. A good understanding of banking business and accounting
c. Independent, objective thinker, sound judgement and
analytical skills
d. Excellent communication, problem-solving and good
interpersonal skills are a prerequisite.
e. Minute taking and report writing skills
f. Highest professional and personal ethics, integrity and values
Qualifications and Experience
To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must have the
following minimum qualifications and job experience
• Bcomm Law, LLB or any other related fields
• Three years’ experience as a Company Secretary
• Sound Managerial experience
• Chartered Secretary qualification will be an added advantage
Successful applicants will be subjected to the clearance process
by the LPB Board of Directors and Regulatory Authorities.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP OFFICER
The Lesotho Post bank invites suitably qualified candidate
to apply for vacant position of Customer Information and
Relationship Officer.
Job Purpose:
To work under the supervision of the Customer Information and
Relationship Manager in identifying and exploiting opportunities
that are geared towards selling, with the aim to acquire new,
effectively service the existing and retaining customers that add
value to the organizations through forming and cementing the
relationship with them.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain relationships with key clients with a
view to maximizing business opportunities.
• Track, control and influence sales activities with the specific
aim to increase sales efficiencies
• Identify new business opportunities and convert these into
sales.
• Ensure that client calls and meetings are conducted in such
a way as to lead to ongoing new business opportunities,
through a process of targeted needs identification.
• Formulate relevant solutions based on client needs and
prepare proposals.
• Follow-up with clients in terms of evaluating satisfaction levels
and taking corrective action where necessary.
• Deliver formal presentations to existing and prospective
clients.
• Maximise Business Portfolio through cross selling
opportunities and strengthen client relationships
• Provide feedback with respect to identified gaps and ensuring
products offered meet customers’ needs
• Visit potential customers to prospect for new business.
• Drive sales with the ability to negotiate the terms of an
agreement and close sales.
• Make accurate cost calculations, and provide customers with
quotations in line with company policies and procedures.
• Close business to meet monthly, quarterly and annual sales
objectives.
• Provide timely and accurate management reports as
requested.
• Prepare and present tender documentation and attend tender
briefings as required.
Required Competencies
The position of the Customer Relationship Officers requires the
incumbent to be in possession of the following skills:
• Relationship and portfolio management, Computer skills,
Results oriented, Writing and reporting skills, Presentation
and selling skills.
• Problem solving and Analytical skills; Good appreciation of
research issues, Networking skills, Innovative and proactive,
Three dimensional thinker,
• Knowledge of credit principles and preparing good credit
proposals
• In possession of valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work with customers at different levels e.g. SMEs
and SMMEs
Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Bcom Accounting or Economics or Business administration
plus at least three years in business banking or marketing in
the retail environment.
• Experience in banking or financial sector
• A member of professional qualification like CA, CIS or CFP will
be an added advantage.
HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST
The Lesotho Post bank invites suitably qualified candidates
to apply for the position of Human Resources Specialist,
which entails, inter alia creating a conducive employer and
employee relations climate; planning and implementation of
the performance management and learning and development
strategies; Health and Safety Programs; Communication to ensure
to ensure a disciplined, motivated and productive workforce.
Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the prospective
candidate will among others perform the following;
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To develop procedures on training and development,
performance management and Health and Safety issues ;
• To ensure learning and development initiatives are analysed,
planned, implemented and evaluated.
• To ensure organizational development and communication
internally and externally;
• To oversee the bank’s health and safety program and
employee wellness initiatives;
• To manage compensation related issues to ensure that staff
is fairly compensated according to set policies;
• To champion implementation of the Performance
Management System
• To ensure implementation of the Human Resources
compliance plan;
• To prepare monthly and quarterly reports on learning and
development, Health and safety and Employee relations issues
for executive management meetings;
• To manage implementation of the training and development
program as well as the performance management system.
• To provide continuous leadership, supervision, training and
development of the bank’s staff on employee relations issues
and performance management;
• To manage and, where applicable, assist in the establishment
of procedures and processes to assist line managers in
managing various aspects of labour relations and staff welfare.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Human
Resources Development Law or related qualification, a post
graduate qualification in labour law would be an added an
advantage;
• A minimum four year’s related work experience in Human
Resources related for degree holders or three year’s related
work experience for postgraduate degree holders.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Familiarity with Labour law and relations is a basic requirement;
• Learning & Development, Performance Management
Principles; Health and Safety Issues
• Basic Conditions of Employment
• Proficiency in MS applications
• Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration Principles;
• Knowledge of the Labour Code and Codes of Good Practice
