Minimum qualifications and requirements:
• A Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) certificate is essential
• A valid HTS certificate from the Industrial Hygiene Division of the Chamber of Mines or CSIR is essential
• Computer literacy (MS Office packages and HTS SAP module) is considered essential
• At least 5 years’ experience in HTS
• Competent in providing emergency treatment for Heat Stress Disorders, particularly Heat Stroke
• A valid First Aid Certificate
• A valid medical certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate
• Good interpersonal, organising and communication skills
Duties and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
• Registering all employees who are liable for HTS
• Ensuring all employees doing HTS have passed their medical screening examination as per the COMRO guide
• Supervising the cleaning of the change room and ensuring that the temperatures are in a permissible range
• Checking shower water temperatures, footbaths, and use of chemicals and dilutions
• Checking Heat Stroke treatment room before starting HTS and stabilising the HTS chamber temperatures
• Supervising the weight taking and initial temperatures in the change room
• Ensuring standards of safety and hygiene are maintained
• All recordkeeping
• Ensuring all procedures used in the test centre meet the requirements of the CSIR Miningtec
