The Lesotho Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) invites applications from suitably qualified local candidates for the following position:
Job Title: PROJECTS ACCOUNTANT
REPORTS TO: FINANCIAL AND MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING MANAGER
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To assist in the monitoring of the performance of WASCO’s ongoing projects on finance related issues and timely production of reports to all stakeholders.
KEY TASKS:
1. Responsible for the overall administration of all donor funds.
2. Maintain financial records, inclusive of the disbursementegister, the asset register and the bank reconciliation statements.
3. Prepare withdrawal applications to the donors and payment to the suppliers.
4. Ensure that all disbursements from donor funds are processed strictly according to the disbursement procedures of WASCO and the respective donor agencies.
5. Prepare monthly reports on the status of disbursement in respect of individual loans and grants.
6. Ensure compliance with Lesotho Income Tax Regulations in all transactions.
7. Responsible for ensuring that all payments made are according to the budget amounts.
8. Assist in the evaluation process and preparation of the contracts especially on the finance related issues.
9. Assist in the preparation of financial statements for audit and responses to any audit queries or management letter.
10. Assist in the preparation of the Capital Budget investment program and the cash flow.
11. Liaise with the Ministry’s planning section on projects’ issues
12. Production of financial status of projects; and consolidation of the same with progress on the projects.
13. Liaise with Commissioner of Water’s planning section on projects issues.
14. Production of projects’ cumulative cost report.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
1. General Accountant with three (3) years working experience in finance division in a commercial entity.
OR
2. B. Corn degree in Accounting with three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory role
3. Relevant experience/training in Projects accounting is an added advantage.
