The Lesotho Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) invites applications from suitably qualified local candidates for the following position:
Job Title: REGIONAL ACCOUNTANT
Reports to: CREDIT CONTROL MANAGER
Purpose of the Role:
To ensure debt collection in the southern region through the implementation of the credit control policy and undertake the reconciliations of the control accounts
Key Tasks:
METERING AND BILLING
Responsible for ensuring that the Billing System in the regions is fully operational at all times through the assistance of the IT section.
Responsible for disconnections and reconnections of accounts in the system during billing
DEBT COLLECTION
Review debtors age analysis of the urban centers and ensure prompt action on all overdue accounts
Identify accounts that may require intervention of the Company’s Executive Management
Liaise with Area Managers on customers who are due for disconnection and ensure that appropriate charges are raised and effected on customers’ accounts
Ensure timely attention to queries from urban centers
Ensure follow ups on all unbilled accounts
Issue lists of defaulting customers to legal for intervention
Editing and updating of third party collections file
Prepare monthly disconnection and reconnection reports for LEWA
Timely attend customer queries
Ensure implementation of set internal controls
Prepare monthly collection programme and monitor that the programme is implemented
Prepare the actual collection against the programme and provides a report on the analysis.

Degree in B. Com. Accounting or Registered Accountant
At least three years experience in a supervisory role
