Team Leader
Working with the Principal Investigator and the Country Director of ICAP in Lesotho, the Survey Director/Team Leader will lead efforts to conduct the Lesotho TB Prevalence survey through management of day to day implementation, data collection and monitoring and data analysis. The Survey Director/ Team Leader will ensure the TB prevalence survey protocol is developed collaboratively, obtain necessary IRB approvals and will have overall responsibility for hiring, training and supervising the survey team.
Location: Maseru, Lesotho
Note: This position is contingent upon receipt of award and funder approval of key personnel.
Major Responsibilities:
Organize and lead multi-sectorial collaborative meetings to develop the survey protocol and data collection tools
Lead efforts to obtain and maintain all necessary IRB and regulatory approvals
Maintain the study master files and datasets and ensure confidentiality of survey participants is maintained
Provide general logistical management support to all partners and staff working on the protocol implementation including statisticians estimating sample size, translators, communication experts, database developers, monitoring and evaluation experts, and laboratory experts
Work with the administration, finance and technical teams to ensure timely procurement of all survey related materials including equipment and supplies, data collection tools and other job aids
Overall responsible for hiring of TB Prevalence survey team in collaboration with the ICAP Lesotho Human Resource unit including advertising, interviewing and recruiting applicants
Training of TB Prevalence survey team on the protocol, standard operating procedures and good clinical and field practice
Oversee the day-to-day supervision of the project staff
Serve as the primary contact to report any study-related adverse events or incidents
Responsible for generating regular reports to the PI, national stakeholders, and in-country management team
Develop and monitor the TB Prevalence survey work plan
Assume overall responsibility for the process of data collection and data quality assurance, and for generating high quality and complete data according to survey objectives and timelines
Lead the development and implementation of a data dissemination strategy, in particular with plans for local dissemination, in coordination with CDC, MOH and ICAP HQs
Participate and lead in the preparation of scientific analyses, abstracts and publications
Education:
Masters or PhD degree in Epidemiology, Public Health or a related field
Experience, Skills, Minimum Required Qualifications:
8 + years of experience in managing research or surveys within the field of international public health
Supervisory experience required
Demonstrated experience in conducting and coordinating national and household surveys or large studies an advantage
Demonstrated exposure to ethical review processes, and research implementation
Certification in Good Clinical Practice and/or the CITI human subjects training desirable
Detail oriented and highly organized, and ability to multi-task
Excellent communication, writing, and quantitative skills, including the development of measurable objectives, operational plans, and measurable indicators/targets for public health programs and projects
Ability to interact professionally in English
Relevant experience in the region and knowledge of local culture or administrative system, government organization, an advantage
