Title: Programme Officer (x1)
Responsible to: Executive Director
Job Summary In line with PEPFAR Indicator Protocol, provide support to the IDAL OVC project supported by MSH to accelerate project implementation process in Lithipeng and Khoelenya Community Councils in the Mohale’shoek District.
Duties and Responsibilities
In liaison with the Community volunteers and Social Workers, the Project Officer will be responsible for implementing the following duties:
o Participate in all planning and budgeting processes of the organisation.
o Periodically assess OVC data collection forms and ensure quality data management before submission to head office
o Identify children without shelter and care and liaise with the local authorities and caregivers to take remedial action
o Ensure that OVC are protected from abuse, they possess legal documents such as birth certificates and their household property is secured at all times
o Offer support guidance and training to members for effective functioning of IDAL branches.
o Ensure that health referrals for OVC are effectively carried-out whenever required
o Supervise PSS and HIV & AIDS prevention among OVC.
o Ensure that OVC are provide services in line with their identified needs
o Identify organizations dealing with income-generating activities at project site and link them with caregivers and destitute families for support
o Prepare monthly/Quarterly Community Council Progress Reports including Data Reports.
o Periodically conduct home visits to monitor OVC status
o Compile a District Database/Master List of project participants/beneficiaries for statistical purposes in his/her catchment area.
o Ensure the Senior Management is informed of all relevant information on national decisions and other issues related to vulnerable children
Perform any other official duties as would be required or as assigned by the Executive Director Qualifications, Experience and Competences
Bachelor of Social Work Degree or / Degree in Adult Education, Community Development or related fields.
Additional training on HIV & AIDS is an added advantage
At least 3 years experience working in OVC projects or HIV & AIDS projects or other Community Development Projects
Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and other software packages
Must have good analytical and problem solving skills
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
Documentation skills
Training skills
Must be self-driven and be able to work in a team
Valid Drivers License is an added advantage
