POSITION ADVERTISEMENT
ACCOUNTANT –MAPHUTSENG ADP
The above-mentioned position exists in World Vision Lesotho – Malumeng Area Development Program. Interested persons are invited to apply. The position is based in Mafeteng.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
To assist in maintaining financial records by preparing accounting reports and statements, reconciling accounts, and processing/reviewing journal entries and vouchers.
REPORTS TO: PROGRAMME MANAGER - MALUMENG ADP
DURATION: Three (3) Years
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare Monthly, Quarterly, Annual/Financial Reports.
• Handle monthly reconciliation of the specified bank accounts and Financial Reports.
• Liaise with the Partnership Office and with the Support offices in regard to reconciliation.
• Prepare regular entries to the journal.
• Approve coding on all vouchers prepared by staff for valid account/cost center/donor combinations and advise necessary adjustments to originator.
• Research expenditure variances and prepare correcting journals as required.
• Prepare regular internal Management Reports.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets.
• Managing and controlling budgets.
• Supervise the work of a Bookkeeper.
• Handle complex accounts payable/expenditure accounts.
• Attend and participate in daily devotional and weekly chapel meetings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training.
• Requires a university degree in accounting or equivalent and experience in accounting, preferably within World Vision.
• Education/experience must include complex bank reconciliation, journal writing, general ledger, financial statements, and government tax reports.
• Knowledge of accounting theory and financial analysis required.
• Experience in financial reporting preferable. Requires good computer skills and knowledge of accounting systems such as Sun Systems. Requires good communication (speaking and writing) skills in English.
• Management skills will be an added advantage.
• Must be a committed Christian.
