Internship - Gender and Rights Section at UNICEF

The Gender and Rights Section (GRS) at UNICEF's headquarters in New York has available a 4-6 month internship (unpaid and starting from Mid-November) for a highly organized, self-motivated and self-directed Masters student. The intern would be based at UNICEF's HQ and work 3-5 days a week to support the Section's work, providing support on research, organizational, logistics, programming, communications, and fundraising activities. S/he will also support preparations leading up to key internal and external events and meetings such as the Beijing +20, rolling out and disseminating UNICEF’s new Gender Action Plan and UN SWAP reporting. The intern will also support key initiatives that are a core part of the Gender and RIghts' section's work, including child marriage, adolescent health, girls' secondary schooling, and gender based violence in emergencies.
Candidates for the internship must be currently enrolled in a Masters or Bachelors (only Juniors and seniors) level programme in a relevant field, including Public Health, the Social Sciences, or Public Administration and must have some academic and/or work background in the field of gender and development. S/he should be able to take initiative, have excellent research, analytical, writing, and communications stills. Close attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and deliver on time even when under pressure are essential. Candidate should also have a strong interest in furthering their learning about gender equality programming.
