Help Lesotho (www.helplesotho.org) is a rapidly growing NGO working in northern and central Lesotho. Help Lesotho empowers vulnerable children, youth and grandmothers through its psychosocial support,
education and leadership development programs and partnerships. Help Lesotho is seeking to fill the vacancy
of Programme Manager.
Job Title: Programme Manager (PM)
Location: Hlotse, Leribe Close date: 8th May 2015
Job Summary:
The PM will head Help Lesotho’s program function, including the Youth and Leadership Development
Program, Grandmothers Program and Education Support Program. The PM will supervise and work with
program officers to plan and administer all programming and trainings, including content development,
staff management and program monitoring and evaluation. The PM will manage all programming including
narrative and financial reporting. The position will be based in Hlotse with regular travel to other parts of
Leribe, Butha Buthe and Thaba Tseka and will report directly to the Help Lesotho Country Director.
Main Roles & Responsibilities:
• Manage direct reports, including performance objectives and evaluations, HR issues as they arise;
• Provide program development, monitoring, evaluation and oversight;
• Conduct budget development, tracking and analysis, provide suggestions for improvement, cost savings
& program improvement;
• Provide module content development, compilation and monitoring;
• Develop and maintain program partnerships and source opportunities;
• Develop and submit proposals for funding in cooperation with the Country Director;
• Provide supervision, management and capacity building to all program officers and program support staff;
• Ensure varied and appropriate content and facilitate at all training workshops, annual leadership camp and
gender conferences;
• Ensure documentation of departmental meetings, action items and tracking;
• Supervise and contribute to activity planning, logistics and content development;
• Provide narrative reports on all projects and relevant activities;
• Prepare and submit reports to donors on a timely basis and according to their requirement’s; and
• Provide overall leadership throughout the organization as a manager.
Required Skills and Qualification:
• Degree in related field;
• Minimum 5 years experience developing and managing development-related programs;
• Experience managing large grants monitoring and evaluation systems i.e. UN/E-U/USAID etc;
• Experience with narrative reports and financial reporting;
• Exceptional leadership and communications skills and ability;
• Strong knowledge of and commitment to HIV/AIDS and gender equity related issues;
• Good understanding and experience of proposal writing and donor relations;
• Well developed written and oral skills in Sesotho and English;
• Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure; and
• Proven expertise in Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
