POSITION VACANT- PRIMARY TEACHER (MASERU)
A small non-profit organisation is looking for a qualified teacher for it’s Maseru-based primary school. The non-formal school provides bridging education to children who have been out of mainstream school long-term, helping them to complete Standard 7 in the shortest possible time. Students are typically out of the practice of learning, and some lack foundational literacy and numeracy skills. The teacher will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, primary curriculum to students while helping them build confidence in their ability to learn. The teacher will also be expected to manage and adapt to different learning abilities within the same classroom.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE: - Ensuring student academic progress by employing flexible and creative teaching methods for small groups of learners; - Lesson planning and delivery; - Monitoring, tracking and reporting on student progress; - Preparation of individual remediation plans for each student; - Maintaining consistent discipline and structure in the classroom; - Playground supervision; and - Administration.

REQUIRED: - Compassion and a genuine concern for vulnerable children; - Reliability and a strong work ethic; - Creativity and flexibility in problem-solving; - Demonstrated pursuit of excellence; - Highly developed attention to detail, personal organisation and time-management; and - A demonstrated commitment to self-improvement and continued learning.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: - A relevant degree/diploma. Substantial equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of formal qualifications. - Completion of an additional teacher training course would be an advantage. - Prior experience is not compulsory, however evidence of previous voluntary work will be well regarded. Salary will be based on merit and will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
