Job Title: Early Childhood Development Area Focal Persons (AFPs) (3)
PROJECT BACKGROUND
During the first phase of the Whose Child is This project, CRS was able to secure the
support of MOET in providing training and classroom monitoring through National
Teacher Trainers (NTTs) and Area Resource Teachers(ARTs) (both paid by MOET). NTTs
typically operate at the district level and ARTs support a cluster of communities in
providing teacher trainings to teachers. The project was able to receive support from
both NTTs and ARTs, but the NTTs were often inundated with the need to support
all schools within their designated districts, and ARTs were not always present in
the project’s catchment area. To strengthen the quality of the teacher trainings and
classroom monitoring, CRS intends to leverage its partnership with the Ministry
of Education and Training and Lesotho College of Education (LCE) to identify
appropriate graduates from the certificate program to serve as ECD Area Resource
Teachers (ARTs) to provide outreach to other teachers within the preschools. While
ARTs exist within MOET, CRS will temporarily support designated ECD Area Resource
Teachers and assign one in each catchment area where the project exists (Maseru,
Mant’sonyane and Mathokoane)
1 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
