Electrician Wanted at National University of Lesotho
The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following post:
DEPARTMENT OF WORKS AND MAINTENANCE:
Post No. 1484: Electrician – (Re-Advertisement)
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Craft certificate in electrical installation from recognised institution plus three (3) years in relevant experience
Trade Test B in electrical installation from recognised institution plus four (4) years experience in a relevant trade
Special course in electrical installation from recognised institution plus four (4) years in relevant experience.
Duties:
Responsible to the Maintenance Officer:
Complete wiring of trunk mains Wiring and repair of transformers
Complete installation of streetlights
Repair and troubleshoot faulty streetlights Complete house and industrial wiring
Repair and troubleshoot all faulty electrical appliances Repair and troubleshoot minor power outages
Wiring of electrical geysers
Identify, erect and connect overhead transmission line components Install and maintain batteries
Identify, join and test cables Interpret engineering drawings
Operate electrical test instruments and measurements Operate and maintain standby generator set
Installation and maintain water pumping machinery Installation and maintenance of laundry machines. Operate and repair air-conditions and cold rooms
Competences:
The incumbent should be prepared to work during the holidays if the work so requires
The incumbent should be able to cope with different culture or different types of people, e.g. students and others
The incumbent must be self-driving and flexibility in order to perform duties even under work pressure
Must have sound knowledge of equipment, methods and materials used in electrical workshops environment.
Remuneration:
The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Employment type:
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable for Locals and Contract for Non –Locals.
