Applications Engineer
The role
The purpose of the job is:
- To identify the current/future operational constraint trends experienced by Sandvik customers; support the development and sale of trans4mine services as a paid Mining Consultancy Service Offering (both externally & internally).
- Ensure delivery of productivity improvement benefits at the customer site, is exploited by Sales Area Management teams to increase the Sandvik Mining market share and profitability with that customer.
- To provide subject matter expertise & specialist skills and experience in devising best practice customer processes related to mechanised and/or automated mining.

Key Accountabilities:
- Investigate and acquire the necessary mine related information needed to construct the desired system tool to identify operational bottlenecks. This will require the employee to obtain the information from existing mine systems or to conduct in-depth time studies within the production environment.
- Define required site measurement parameters and base case performance metrics necessary to implement automation products and services.
- In-depth analysis of customer applications and operations to implement automation products and services. Focus to provide mining application related technical support to potential mining automation customers.
- Analyse data to identify operational bottlenecks or help motivate potential improvement areas identified during the execution of an operational review study or audit.
- Use existing models such as the ORI, MAPS model and data captured from automation products to deliver the intended outcomes of these models and ultimately add value to trans4mine clients.

- Willingness to travel (likely greater than 30% of the time
Your profile
- Qualification - relevant tertiary education in: Sales & invoicing capability (highly valued)
- Degree in Engineering relevant to the mining industry – example Mining, Electronic/Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial related disciplines a must.
- Certificate in Business Administration/Development/Leadership
- Certificate in Project Management
Experience
- 5 years of operational experience in mining industry
- Product experience of mining equipment and systems
- Providing consulting, process improvement or information services to customers in an industrial or mining environment (Advantageous)
- Project management experience (Advantageous)
