Letšeng seeks to engage a qualified professional with the appropriate skills and aptitude to fill the position of
ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER (PATERSON BAND CU)
JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Officer shall,
through the implementation of the below outputs and responsibilities, ensure that the
operations of Letšeng Diamonds does not impact negatively on the environment.
MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Undertakes environmental internal auditing and assists in environmental planning
Assists in the updating of the Social and Environmental Management Plan on annual basis
Conduct Environmental Inspections and take action
Disseminates applicable environmental content/information to all new employees at
inductions and maintain records of such
Provides relevant environmental information to contractors via documentation and
ensure acceptance/understanding
Conducts water, air and soil quality management actions
Conducts investigations into mine environmental incidents as and when they occur,
analyses and reports findings to line Manager
Prevents pollution at source via training, education and making persons responsible for
diesel and oil storage and the use thereof aware of the consequences of pollution
Monitors and reports on the post mining rehabilitation trust fund in respect of the
quantum set aside for post closure rehabilitation
Collates data relating to environmental management on the mine and drafts reports for
submission to Environmental Manager
Implements projects/programmes geared towards addressing environmental challenges
on Site
Complies with HSE policies
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Relevant degree in environmental management or natural sciences preferably Chemistry
& Geography OR Chemistry & Biology
Minimum 2 years relevant post-graduate experience in an NGO, corporate or parastatal in
an environmental monitoring role
Light Vehicle Driver’s Licence
