As Legal Counsel and senior legal adviser, your advice will be sought on a wide range of areas from international administrative law to contractual and human resource issues; the development of policies governing operations; and cases brought before the Arbitral Tribunal.
 
This will involve personnel policies and procedures for recruitment, grievances and disciplinary cases; corporate matters generally and including procurement and financial management and change management; the privileges and immunities in host and other countries; administrative and diplomatic matters; and contracts for the supply of good and services, including to our Geneva and New York offices.
 
You will be liaising with relevant stakeholders including governments, regional and international organisations as well as delivering presentations at fora on international administrative law, internally and abroad.
 
With a first degree in Law and having been admitted to practice as a barrister or solicitor in a Commonwealth country, you will have gained at least 12 years’ experience, including a minimum of five years as a lawyer working in the directly relevant areas mentioned above. This must include public international law; the application of administrative law within an international organisation; HR issues and the conduct of an international organisation; and the review of complex agreements.
 
Analytical and outstanding at providing clear and objective advice and recommendations, you’ll have effective interpersonal, communication, networking and negotiation skills.
 
Also, you must be able to operate effectively in our multicultural setting and be a national of a Commonwealth country.
