ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
Started in 1992, The Small Enterprise Foundation (SEF) is a not-for-profit, pro-poor microfinance institution. SEF aims to work towards the elimination of poverty and unemployment. This is accomplished through two programs, the Microcredit Programme (MCP) and the Tšhomišano Credit Programme (TCP). MCP focuses on existing, but generally marginal micro-enterprises and provides them with micro-loans. On the other hand, TCP strictly targets women who live below half the poverty line. SEF also provides value-add services including financial education, and partners with HIV and gender empowerment programs.
ABOUT THE JOB: 
SEF is seeking an Operations Intern. S/he will be responsible for working closely with the operations coordinator to constantly assess and improve organization's operational performance. 
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate projects across multiple departments, operational problem solving;
  • Assist with funder and lender relations, evaluate internal systems, excel analysis of operational performance;
  • Assist in staff trainings and workshops and internal research. 
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Social Science, Economics, Business, Accounting or similar;
  • Prior work or intern experience is desirable;
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required;
  • Other office programs required are Word and PowerPoint;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Experience of living and working in a developing context is desirable but not essential;
  • Willingness to travel for work as necessary.
