CHIEF SURVEYOR
Storm Mountain Diamonds (PTY) Ltd is a mining company operating within the Kao catchment in the rural areas of Botha-Bothe district. SMD invites applications from suitably qualified Lesotho citizens for the position of Chief Surveyor.
The purpose of the job: To lead the survey function and monitor the execution and compliance of all Survey activities according to Legal requirements while meeting all internal and legislated health, safety, community and environmental requirements.
Qualifications and Minimum Job requirements:
Diploma in surveying or BTech Mine Surveying
COM Advanced valuation Certificate (added Advantage)
COM Advanced Survey Certificate
Mine Survey certificate of Competency
Good communication skills in both Sesotho and English languages
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
Hands on experience of minimum of 5 years surveying in a mining environment(preferably open cast/ open pot environment)
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Provide total safety leadership to the survey team on the mine
Assume responsibility of the effective day to day operation of the survey function on the mine in an open pit environment and ensure legal compliance
Assume responsibility for the development of survey discipline regarding technical capability, skill and succession planning as well as relevant policies and procedures
Perform audit function on measurements, calculations, depletions and official statistics reported
Play a leading role in mineral resource management such as block model updates, depletion, reconciliation, and optimisation studies.
