Regional Chief Transactions Advisor - Power Infrastructure

The Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) and the World Bank have designed a program in order to advance the preparation of selected priority regional energy projects in the SAPP participating countries. This senior role in the region will see you acting both as an Advisor to Senior Management of Utilities and Senior Policy Makers and performing a senior leadership role for the new high calibre Projects Advisory Unit (PAU) being set up under the SAPP/SADC in Johannesburg.
KPA’s:
  • Guide the PAU Team, utility staff and government officials engaged in PPP design, technical and financial feasibility, and regulatory issues relating to infrastructure
  • Work and advise on the development of appropriate project structures with a view to attracting private sector investment, and optimizing the mix of financial instruments
  • Lead the PAU's contributions and collaboration with partners; clients; governments; SADC and financing institutions; SAPP members in the identification of a pipeline of qualifying infrastructure projects and the use of funding available for preparation in the region, including funding being made available to the PAU by the World Bank and other donors.
Essential criteria: You will boast extensive international experience, preparing and implementing large, complex infrastructure investments with a proven track record in high-level positions related to the planning, packaging, financing and/or management of infrastructure investments with private participation. A proven working track record with commercial banks and equity investors is essential. Master’s deg. in commerce / equivalent + 15 yrs relevant energy sector transaction experience in private sector with collaboration and high level exposure to public sector.
