Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for above-mentioned position. The position is tenable at
Liqhobong, Botha-Bothe Lesotho.
JOB PURPOSE: The SHE Officer will be responsible for providing guidance and direction for the planning, implementation
and operation of the company’s safety management system in accordance with Client’s requirements, rules and
regulations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: responsibilities of the SHE Officer shall include the following;
Demonstrating an excellent safety behaviour and attitude and follow safety regulatory practices and rules
Recognising and promoting hazard reporting and ensure effective safety reporting
Modelling and promoting an organisational culture that fosters safety practices through effective leadership
Acting as an information conduit to bring safety issues to the attention of management and to
deliver safety information to the company’s staff
Building and maintaining excellent working relationship with the company’s Safety Representatives
Representing the company at safety meetings
Analysing technical information regarding trends related to hazards, events and occurrences
Assisting in the continuous improvement of the hazard identification and safety risk assessment schemes
Developing safety policies, rules and regulations and review them as the need arises
Maintaining the utmost confidentiality in dealing with employee records and company’s information
Conducting periodic environmental, health and safety audits in the company’s business dealings
Performing or assisting in investigation of accidents/incidents as needed and ensure that processes
take necessary corrective action to prevent future incidents
Designing, developing and conducting safety and environmental training programs
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to direct others in organizational setting
Leadership and communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to implement new work processes
Sound knowledge of accident/incident investigation
Must hold a valid driver’s license
Computer literacy
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
Relevant degree, preferably in environmental sciences
Additional courses in industrial hygiene, hazardous material management and safety technology
Experiences:
At least 2 years relevant working experience preferably in the mining environment.
PLUS
Experience working as a safety representative in a mining and/or construction environment
