Job Title: Finance Assistant
Department: Finance Grade RC 4
Responsible to: Assistant Accountant
Main Purpose of the Job:
The Finance Assistant performs day to day accounts payable and receivables functions including invoice
, data input, check generation and general ledger maintenance.
Main Purpose of the Job:
• Liaises with logistics officer to ensure that purchased goods are ordered under authority and procedure, purchased goods/items are inspected for quality, quantity and conditions
• Verify accounts payable invoices
• Ensure timely and correct payments
• Process and account for monies in accounts receivables or payables area
• Prepare cheques payment and verify payment vouchers and report cash flows needs for payment of invoices or bills and book cheques payments in the accounting system
• Create and maintain spreadsheets to ensure proper tracking of funds and
• prepare monthly and compliance reports
• Prepare bank deposits and daily cash balances reports and reconcile bank statement
• Maintains and update the society inventory list and manage a filling system for all financial documents.
• Ensure timely banking of all monies received
• Verifies that all invoices, orders, requisitions are correct in terms of quantity, unit price before payment is made
Specifi cations: Diploma in Accounting/Finance plus 2 years’ experience in Accounting sector
Competencies:
_ Good IT skills and confident in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
_ Proficiency in accounting software applications
_ Knowledge of basic accounting or business practices and methods
_ Computer competency such as standard computer software, including word processing, database and spreadsheet applications
_ Ability to use e-mail communication
_ Strong attention to detail and able to produce work with a high level of accuracy
_ Able to manage a high volume workload
_ Good problem solving ability
