ActionAid International works in partnership with local NGOs, CBOs, and governments across the world, with the Country Programme aimed at supporting poor and excluded people. ActionAid International Lesotho’s work is focused around three Strategic areas namely: violence against women, governance and climate resilient sustainable agriculture. Actionaid Lesotho has the following vacancies:
Position: Head of Policy and Programme
Reports to: Country Director
Location: National Office
Purpose of the Role:
The Head of Policy and Programmes shall be responsible for the design, development, implementation and management of all programmes and policy advocacy work at the AAIL. In addition, the Head shall maintain strong programme links from community to national and international levels as well as coordinate people for change programme. The holder of the position is a member of senior management team and is expected to ensure organizational efficiency and effectiveness through participation in decision making, advising on the programmes and policy issues, communication and implementation of agreed upon decisions.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Represent AAIL at National, regional and international forums and maintain external relationships with stakeholders including government, national and international NGOs, donors, academic, social movements, media and relevant institutions
Lead the development of AAIL’s Country Strategy Paper (CSP) and manage the development and review regional and LRP strategies to ensure realignment to the national CSP
Provide input in the development and alignment of the LRP strategies to the National CSP
Lead programme development and design as well as implementation of the CSP in the country; programme quality
Build donor relations for increased fundraising and develop systems to support contract management of donor funded projects
Take lead in partner capacity assessment and development of partner capacity enhancement and growth plans.
Support the development of community program implementation structures into viable
In liaison with IS, work with various unit heads to develop planning, reviews and reporting guidelines for the organization and coordinate quality and timely planning , reviews and reporting
Develop staff and partner capacity in fundraising through hands on training in the development of quality concept notes and proposals and in resource mobilization.
Appointment to the position will be made from persons who have:
A masters degree in social Sciences or its equivalent from a recognized University;
Have at least seven (7) years working experience in policy/programmes function in an international Non-Governmental Organization or a large organization of which at least five (4) years must have been at senior management position;
Have demonstrated in-depth understanding of programming issues and Policy work at organizational, national and international levels;
Have practical experience in donor reporting, designing, setting up and coordinating, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment systems and processes; and
Have an understanding of gender issues in development and demonstrable commitment to promoting gender equity within the organization and in programme work.
Technical Competencies;
Strong conceptual, analytical, documentation and presentation skills;
Excellent management, leadership, planning and prioritization skills;
High degree of integrity, dependability and confidentiality;
Good interpersonal and communication skills coupled with ability to influence, negotiate, advice, mentor and train;
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated; and
High level of IT proficiency in use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Power-point, and e-mail.
Position: Sponsorship Officer
Reports to: Regional Manager
Location: Region (Thaba-tseka)
Purpose of the Role:
To implement mechanisms that facilitates the increase, retention and efficient/effective maintenance of AAIL supporters (Child Sponsorship and NK) through the preparation and dissemination of timely and quality sponsorship communications as per child sponsorship policies in the OSS. To profile the work of the LRPs in the designated region.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Participate in start up processes of a new LRPs as per sponsorship policy and NK ( Sponsorship database) M&E performance system
Maintain the CP’s supporters by managing the beneficiary and supporter data according to the NK data requirements and M & E performance systems.
Plan and monitor in profile, message and photo update collection exercises according to the child sponsorship policies and requirements.
Regional child Management and Monitoring
Participate in Regional plans and budget exercise, and ensure that the region follow sponsorship plans and budgets requirements.
Successful candidate will have:
Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or Communications
At least 5 years of relevant working experience from a recognized institution or 3 years experience in a relevant position
Knowledge of, Child Sponsorship methodologies, Networking and community mobilization, Resource mobilization.

Ability to work with children
