Financial Manager

Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) is a non-­‐governmental organisation established in 1915, working worldwide for peace and security (www.wilpfinternational.org for more information) with two international offices in Geneva and in New York City.
WILPF is looking for a Financial Manager (FM) to maintain the financial health of the organization.

Location: Geneva, Switzerland

Responsibilities
Budgeting/Reporting/Audit
1. Develop detailed forecast budget in consultation with the programme/project managers and WILPF NY office’s accountant;
2. Administer and review all financial plans and budgets, monitor progress and changes, and produce short-­term projections;
3. Produce accurate and timely quarterly financial reports, collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial, project/programme and grants accounting;
4. Prepare yearly financial statements;
5. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process liaising with the auditor;
6. Coordinate and lead project and grant audits liaising with the auditor.
Financial strategy and management
1. Formulate long-­‐term financial strategy;
2. Develop and analyze information to assess the current and future financial status of the organization;
3. Develop financial management mechanisms that minimize financial risk;
4. Implement improvements to the reporting system, accounting practices, and internal processes and policies in order to ensure control, integrity and to maintain the financial health of the organization. Update the overall financial policy and procedure manual accordingly;
5. Process to an annual risk assessment and report to the Board;
6. Support programme/project managers providing them tools for reporting, monitoring, budgeting, planning, etc.
Accounting/Bookkeeping
1. Ensure accurable bookkeeping for the Geneva office transactions;
2. Maintain records of all financial transactions;
3. Perform monthly reconciliations;
4. Fulfill relevant taxation obligations of the organization.
Other
1. Provide and interpret financial information to programmatic colleagues who do not necessarily have a finance background;
2. Link and work actively with the Standing Finance Committee especially, as well as other relevant WILPF Committees and Working Groups, with the International Treasurer and with WILPF NY Office’s accountant and administrative officer;
3. Effectively communicate and present critical financial matters to the supervisor.
Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom Ligue Internationale de Femmes pour la Paix et la Liberté Liga Internacional de Mujeres por la Paz y la Libertad Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC, UNCTAD and UNESCO; Special Consultative Relations with FAO, ILO, and UNICEF.
Requirements:
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1. University degree in finance/accounting or equivalent.
2. 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position.
3. Knowledge of and experience in financial management required (budgeting, forecasting, liquidity planning, accounting, bookkeeping, grants management, etc.).
4. Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial statements.
5. Prior experience in NGOs and/or UN system is a plus.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Excellent fluency in written and spoken English and French.
2. Ability to establish priorities and to multi-­‐task.
3. Dedication to and interest in WILPF’s work, aims and principles.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Knowledge of Swiss law in terms of non-­‐profit finances and administration.
2. Knowledge of US law in terms of non-­‐profit finances and administration is a plus.
3. Knowledge of Crésus bookkeeping system is a plus.
Conditions Reporting line: WILPF’s Secretary
General Duration: Temporary contract until the end of 2015 with a 3-­‐month probation period (possible extension or permanent position at the end of the term)
Terms: Full time position (flexible)
Based in: Geneva, Switzerland
Salary: Based on experience and qualifications
Start date: May 2015
