VACANCIES
Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is a nonprofit international health organization composed
of nearly 2500 people from more than 74 nationalities working in 47 countries. Our mission is to
save lives and improve the health of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people by closing the
gap between knowledge and action in public health. Together with our partners, we are helping
managers and leaders in developing countries to create stronger management systems that
improve health services for the greatest health impact.
MSH is seeking candidates for a for a five-year USAID/Lesotho health service program in Lesotho. The
goal of the Strengthening Care & Treatment project is to increase effective and tested approaches
for providing comprehensive and integrated HIV and AIDS care and treatment. Preference will be
given to applicants with relevant experience in Lesotho.
All positions are based in Maseru, Lesotho, and are subject to project award and funding.
CHIEF OF PARTY

The Chief of Party leads and manages the project and is accountable for project deliverables and
results, with full accountability and authority for the development, execution, and monitoring of
the project, including vision and technical strategy; project management; documentation and
communication; client(s) and stakeholder(s) relationships; and coordination and synergy with other
MSH projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of a Master’s degree in public health, health
management or administration as well as a minimum of 12 years of progressively increasing
responsibility in managing comprehensive and complex development assistance for HIV/
AIDS and health programs in Africa. Demonstrated subject-matter expertise in two or more of the
following areas: HIV and AIDS, TB, family planning/reproductive health, health service delivery,
public-private partnerships; maternal/newborn or child health.
DEPUTY CHIEF OF PARTY/TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP)/Technical Director will oversee the implementation of activities
across the program at all levels of the health system. The DCOP/Technical Director will be
instrumental in the design, development, and management of system strengthening initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should possess an advanced degree in public health or a relevant discipline.
Clinical training (MD or Nurse) preferred and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience and
achievement in complex development or primary health/service delivery projects. Extensive
experience working with the MoH at various levels in the health sector. Experience with two or
more technical intervention areas of the project, including but not limited to maternal, neonatal,
and child health; reproductive health and family planning; malaria; nutrition; HIV/AIDS and TB.
DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS

The Director of Financial Management and Operations is the primary financial and administrative
officer of the Program responsible for ensuring that financial functions support the timely and
effective implementation of the program’s technical scope of work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance,
Accounting or other relevant field and a minimum of ten years of experience in administrative
and financial management of large- scale, complex, international programs, including experience
in managing donor funded subcontracts/grants. Experience in logistics, procurement or supply
management is highly preferred together with a thorough knowledge of USG financial reporting
and compliance requirements.
MONITORING & EVALUATION ADVISOR

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Advisor is responsible for leading the development and
implementation of a plan to monitor progress, evaluate effectiveness, and disseminate results of
the Project activities and innovations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s degree in Epidemiology/biostatistics or Statistics,
demography or related field, or equivalent experience in monitoring and evaluation. At least five (5)
years’ work experience in monitoring and evaluation, specifically in the development of health and/
or education M&E tools and activities. Ability and experience in leading and conducting Operations
Research.
