Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following temporary positions
tenable at the Bureau of Statistics.
Title : Application Developer
Number of Posts : Three (3)
Grade : H
Division : Information Communication Technology
Responsible to : Data Processing Manager
Under the general supervision of Data Processing Manager, the incumbents will perform the
following duties:
The Application Developer’s primary role is to provide significant technical support to Information
Management section of the BOS ICT division responsible for applications development, data
processing and database management and archiving. In this regard, He/she must carry out the
following activities:
• The design and deployment of data collection application to handheld computers for
enumeration exercise;
• The design and deployment of data transfer application for electronic transfer of data from the
field to the Central Office servers;
• The training of Enumerators and Supervisors on the use of a data collection and data transfer
applications;
• The design and implementation of web monitoring or control of the data collection and data
quality;
• Maintenance and improvement of programs throughout the data collection exercise;
• The design of data cleaning application;
• Designing an analysis module as part of the exploitation of data collection;
• The design of data dissemination application;
• The management of data dissemination component through a Web interface;
• Updating of operating and maintenance manuals;
• Skills transfer through training frameworks at BOS;
• Support other activities within the scope of computer engineering;
Job Specifications
Master’s Degree in Computer Science / related subject with at least one (1) year experience as Analyst
Programmer or Similar position.
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / related subject with at least two (2) years experience as
Analyst Programmer or Similar position.
Other relevant Knowledge/skills
• Strong background on Windows operating system.
• Solid experience of at least five (5) years in information technology;
• Experience in developing applications on PDA;
• Familiarity Development (.Net, Java, PHP, VB, C#, HTML);
• A good Knowledge of SQL Server database;
• A good Knowledge of network and security (LAN, WAN, IP, FTP, HTTPS);
• Professional integrity and the ability to work in a team and under pressure;
• Be available immediately;
• Practical Knowledge of CSPro and SPSS will be an added advantage ;
Title : Network and Security Administrator
Number of Posts : One (1)
Grade : H
Division : Information Communication Technology
Responsible to : Data Processing Manager
Under the general supervision of Data Processing Manager, the incumbents will perform the
following duties:
Given his/her proven experience in Network Administration, His/her primary mandate is to provide
significant technical support to Technical Support section of the BOS ICT division responsible for
network administration, maintenance of computer media collection (servers, handheld computers,
Laptops), electronic transmission of data and reconciliations. In this regard, He/she must carry out
the following activities:
• The establishment and administration of the network;
• The definition and implementation of an IT security policy;
• The definition and implementation of a backup policy;
• The organization of preventive maintenance;
• Maintain proper operation of workstations, softwares and peripherals (printers, etc.);
• Setting up a reliable mechanism for transferring data collected at headquarters;
• Piloting interventions in case of anomalies and appropriate decisions;
• Configuring security elements ( routers , firewalls, etc.) and verification of permitted / prohibited
flows;
• The development of network documentation and procedures;
• Support any other task on the BOS network.
Job Specifications
Master’s Degree in Computer Science / related subject with at least one (1) year experience as Senior
Systems Support Officer or Similar position.
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / related subject with at least two (2) years experience as
Senior Systems Support Officer or Similar position.
Other relevant Knowledge/skills
• Strong background on Windows operating system.
• Solid experience of at least five (5) years in information technology;
• At least three (3) years of network administration experience;
• A good command of the Operations, administration and securing Windows 2008 Server or latest
versions;
• An understanding on security in TCP / IP: HTTPS, SSL, SSH, SOCKS, IPSec ;
• A good knowledge in the interconnection networks;
• A good knowledge on the fight against cyber threats (spam, viruses, worms, etc.);
• A Good knowledge of intrusion detection and detection software and / or intrusion prevention;
• A good knowledge of SQL Server database;
• Professional integrity and the ability to work in a team and under pressure;
• Be available immediately;
Title : Database Administrator
Number of Posts : One (1)
Grade : H
Division : Information Communication Technology
Responsible to : Data Processing Manager
Under the general supervision of Data Processing Manager, the incumbents will perform the
following duties:
Given his/her proven experience in administrative databases, his/her primary mandate is to provide
significant technical support to Information Management section of the BOS ICT division responsible
for applications development, data processing, database management and archiving. In this regard,
He must carry out the following activities:
• The modeling of databases, support in the development and testing;
• The establishment of a census data management architecture;
• The establishment of standards, advocating and good practices;
• Documentation of maintenance procedures;
• The needs assessment ( server sizing , volume, access frequency);
• Maintenance and improvement of programs and the database;
• Securing access to data;
• The definition and implementation of an operational backup plan;
• The creation and maintenance of test solutions for the continuity of production (clustering,
mirroring, log shipping, etc…);
• Ensure the availability and proper functioning of database systems;
• Ensure the maintenance of the database and performance optimization;
• Skills transfer through training frameworks BOS;
• Support to other duties within scope of computer engineering;
Job Specification

Under the general supervision of Senior System Support Officer, the incumbents will perform
the following duties:
Computer Technician’s mandate is to provide significant technical support to Technical Support
section of the BOS ICT division responsible for network administration, maintenance of computer
media collection (servers, handheld computers, Laptops), electronic transmission of data and
reconciliations. In this regard, He/she must carry out the following activities:
• Provide first level support to the BOS users including helpdesk service, technical support and
resolution for enquiries relating to PC hardware and software;
• Support any other task within the scope of computer maintenance;
Job Specification
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / related subject.
Othe relevant Knowledge/skills
• Strong background on Windows operating Systems;
• Knowledge of networking technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VPN;
• Knowledge of SQL Server database;
• Professional integrity and the ability to work in a team and under pressure;
• Be available immediately;
