The Government of Lesotho through the Lesotho Millennium Development Agency (LMDA) is looking for skilled and highly motivated Survey Supervisors and Data Collectors to provide support during implementation of the Health Facilities Maintenance Programme Baseline Survey which will be conducted in 156 Health Centres, 17 Hospitals as well as 10 District Health Management Team (DHMT) offices throughout the country. Interested individuals are invited to apply for the
following positions:
1. Survey Supervisor (*10)
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Regional Coordinator, the Survey Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and managing data collection process at Health Facilities where the Health Facilities Maintenance Programme is being implemented. The
Supervisor will be responsible for the following but not limited to key areas:
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Review all the survey materials.
Oversee all aspects of data collection in the Health Facilities assigned including arrangement of necessary logistical work.
Discuss and agree on the schedule of data collection visits with Regional Coordinator; and organize data collection visits in Health Facilities such as making initial contact with the responsible Officer within the Facility.
Prepare the necessary materials for data collection.
Make sure data collection protocols are followed; and arrange for regular communication with data collection teams.
Check data collection forms at the end of each day for legibility, completeness and consistence.
Ensure that all completed questionnaires are stored in a safe manner and submitted to Regional Coordinator.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Nursing qualification, appropriate Social Science or equivalent with more than 10 years of work experience in the field of health service delivery.
Retired nurses are encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated ability to supervise surveys or research activities.
Ability to work independently as well as an effective team player.
2. Data Collector (*10)
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Survey Supervisor, the Data Collector will be primarily responsible for collecting field data through interviews. She/he will have direct contact with respondents and will be directly responsible for the quality of data collected. The Data Collector will therefore be mandated to attend training workshop and be familiar with all the training manuals and survey tools.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Review all the survey materials.
Familiarise with the assignment and demonstrate understanding of the survey manual and questionnaire.
Work closely with Survey Supervisor to locate the correct Health Facilities.
Conduct interviews with respondents in accordance with the Survey guidelines and protocol.
Record responses in the questionnaire as instructed.
Ensure that all questionnaire are checked and completed after every interview.
Ensure that all questionnaires are accounted for by storing them safely as instructed.
Ensure that all the completed questionnaires are submitted to the Survey Supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Junior degree in Health Planning, Economics, statistics or related field.
Must have prior experience in survey data collection; in particular administering survey questionnaire.
Demonstrate ability to work in a team but also independently.
Experience in health service delivery will be an added advantage.
