BASOTHO RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Job Title: Resource Development and Communications Officer
Job Summary: The Resource Development and Communications Officer will develop, establish and maintain marketing, communication and fundraising strategies to meet Help Lesotho funding and communication objectives. Reporting to the Country Director s/he will work to document and demonstrate Help Lesotho impact through reporting and sharing of good practice.
Reports to: Country Director
Station: Required to live in Hlotse
Main Responsibilities:
1.Internal Coordination and Communication
*.Develop and implement internal coordination and communication mechanisms;
*.Ensure Quarterly Communications Staff Meeting (QSM) are held and documented;
*.Ensure reporting guidelines, formats, philosophy, deadlines for each project and donor are communicated clearly and standardized across new and ongoing projects;
*.Receive and review monthly, quarterly and donor reports;
*.Meet with program officers to define reporting, communication and advocacy requirements;
*.Train staff and volunteers on public relations, communication and reporting.
1.Public Relations and Fundraising
*.Ensure profiling of Help Lesotho brand and work through partnership development and local media;
*.Conduct donor research and develop new relationships;
*.Ensure that Help Lesotho is aware of funding opportunities and strategies of major stakeholders;
*.Develop and implement an external donor relations strategy;
*.Develop and implement corporate relations and fundraising strategy;
*.Act as a point of contact for all donor communication;
*.Invite media to key events , actively submit materials for social media and submit stories to the local media about our work;
*.Responsible for printing public awareness materials and works with the mass media to raise awareness on advocacy issues at hand; and
*.Submit stories, articles, photos and posts for public engagement and social media such as Help Lesotho website and Facebook.
1.Proposal Development and Reporting
*.Assist the Country Director in developing the program strategy and project proposals;
*.Coordinate proposal submissions:
*.Build workplans and liaise with all relevant departments to communicate timelines and expectations; and
*.Ensure that all applications are relevant to contextual needs, donor requirements, as well as Help Lesotho’s operational capacity and strategy;
1.Donor and Canadian Office Support
*.Address ad hoc donor and Canadian office requests, and catalysing action on specific projects or components of projects;
*.Strengthen relationship with current specific donors;
*.Coordination of grant reporting, project development and external communication;
*.Review report from program officers, edit and submit to head office and donors on a timely basis and according to their requirements; and
*.Correspond with donors, partners and potential partners, including thank you letters and providing information as requested.
1.Networking and collaboration
*.Organize annual forum for stakeholders for greater community and government participation and engagement;
*.Reach out to key decision makers in effort to educate, persuade and influence them on advocacy issues at hand;
*.Engage with community and government representatives to raise awareness through community mobilization and organizing;
*.Host visitors to Help Lesotho’s programs (in conjunction with the CD);
*.Participate in external meetings;
*.Attend in-country coordination meetings; and
*.Represents Help Lesotho in committees, meetings and networks as assigned.
1.Event Coordination
*.Act as the primary coordinator for the planning and execution of Help Lesotho events by liaising with appropriate staff, developing budgets and reporting on expenditures, and working with relevant stakeholders.
1.M&E Impact Reporting (working with M&E Assistant)
*.Become proficient with Help Lesotho’s M&E database, extraction of data and modes of data display; and
*.Write impact reports.
Job Requirements:
*.University degree in related field of study;
*.Minimum of 3 year experience in program coordination and communication position;
*.Ability to train and to manage recourse development and communication activities;
*.Teamwork , problem solving skills, ability to work under pressure and management skills;
*.Strong knowledge of and commitment to HIV/AIDS and gender equity related issues;
*.Demonstrated experience with event and program planning, public speaking, partnership development and community engagement;
*.Highly proficient in MS Office Suite; and
*.Fluent in English (oral, written) and Sesotho (oral, written).
