Senior Programme Officer, Environmental Governance and Climate Change
The NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Senior Programme Officer, Environmental Governance and Climate Change
Under the supervision of the Head of Programme, Natural Resource Governance the Senior Programme Officer, Environmental Governance and Climate Change will provide technical support and coordinate the implementation of NEPAD’s programmatic interventions in the area of Environment and Climate Change. The Senior Programme Officer will offer technical input and support in the development and production of strategic knowledge, documents and support networking activities with AU member countries, Regional Economic Communities as well as bilateral multilateral partners and civil society amongst others.
Required Skills and Competencies
Experience in implementing large scale development projects and managing a team of experts with different backgrounds.
Excellent oral communication, writing and editing skills.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and work with a wide range of individuals and institutions.
Able to work under minimal supervision, be proactive, initiative and with sound judgment.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail and thoroughness.
Ability to observe and understand business processes ensuring processes are documented completely and accurately.

Sound analytical skills and the ability to identify issues, formulate opinions, and make conclusions and recommendations in individual and team settings.

Education and Experience:
Candidates must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, Climate Change or equivalent professional qualification with five (5) years of relevant and progressive experience or a relevant Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) years’ experience in the public sector, multilateral institutions, international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and / or internationally.

Remuneration: An indicative basic salary of US$35,300.00 per annum plus other entitlements such as post adjustment (57% of basic salary), housing allowance (US$21,196.80 per annum), pension (19% of basic salary) among others in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
