Senior Programme Officer, Investments and Business Development
The NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Senior Programme Officer, Investments and Business Development
Under the supervision of the Head of Programme, Natural Resource Governance the Senior Programme Officer, Investments and Business provide expert backstopping support on development/formulation and evaluation of national and regional investment plans/programmes within the NEPAD programmes on agriculture and rural development. Additionally, the Senior Programme Officer will Initiate and facilitate business-to-business interactions including through south-south collaboration with a focus on technology development and enhancing business management skills in Africa’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Required Skills and Competencies
Experience in implementing large scale development projects and managing a team of experts with different backgrounds.
Strong understanding of Africa’s agriculture and rural development agenda and specifically NEPAD-CAADP and Rural Future Blue print as a frameworks to stimulate and guide advancing African agriculture performance.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and work with a wide range of individuals and institutions.
Able to work under minimal supervision, be proactive, initiative and with sound judgment.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail and thoroughness.
Ability to observe and understand business processes ensuring processes are documented completely and accurately.

Sound analytical skills and the ability to identify issues, formulate opinions, and make conclusions and recommendations in individual and team settings.

Education and Experience:
Candidates must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Business Development, Agronomy or equivalent professional qualification with five (5) years of progressive responsibility in planning and monitoring programmes/project implementation or a relevant Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) years’ experience in the public sector, multilateral institutions, international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and / or internationally.

Remuneration: An indicative basic salary of US$35,300.00 per annum plus other entitlements such as post adjustment (57% of basic salary), housing allowance (US$21,196.80 per annum), pension (19% of basic salary) among others in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
